This month sees the launch of Rimmel Apocalips lip lacquer (R89,99).

Apocalips is neither a lipstick or gloss but more of a high impact creamy liquid lip colour with a satin finish that’s isn’t sticky in the least. Application is easy and even thanks to a doe’s foot applicator and just one slick delivers a serious punch of colour provided you’re not using the silver or gold colour which are a lot more sheer.
The only negative is that it doesn’t last longer than an hour or so and will slide off your mouth the moment you eat or drink anything. It’ll also end up on your teeth if you’re not careful. Also, I wish that it had more of stain element going for it like other more expensive lip lacquers I’ve tried, the best being YSL’s Rouge Pur Couture Vernis a Levres.
Still, in saying that, YSL’s lacquer costs a wallet-crushing R395 while Rimmel’s lacquer only sets you back less than R100. So, if you’re looking for a serious pop of colour that won’t break the bank and are happy to reapply throughout the day, Apocalips is your baby.
Now let’s get swatchy shall we?

Of all the shades, the fuchsia one, Apocaliptic, is my favourite. (It’s also the colour that Kate is wearing in the ad.) As it’s blue-based it makes my teeth look blindingly white and causes my blue eyes to pop. It’s the perfect hue to add a pop of colour to a pale, otherwise neutral face on a cold winters day.
Which colour would you be most keen to try?
Love, love

I’ve tried the Out of This World shade and love it 🙂
I think the middle one would look best with my skin tone. I’m a bit too timid to try the bright red. To me, the “stain effect” that comes with most lacquers doesn’t compliment me well. That being said, I would appreciate a gloss more temporary. Thanks for the tip.
I really can’t decide.. between #Celestial and #Out of this world… I think they’re both FANTASTIC! 🙂 lovely post.. will add you to my bloglovin blogs to follow!
