To date, Montblanc’s Lady Emblem bottle really is one of the more beautiful flacons on the shelf. Inspired by the 43-faceted cut of the iconic Montblanc diamond, it’s the kind of thing you really, really want to display. Better yet, its soft, elegant floral scent, a citrusy celebration of rose, means it’s not just a pretty face.
Now, those who love and adore the original are in for a special treat as this year sees the launch of a new interpretation – Lady Emblem Elixir EDP (R745 for 30ml, R995 for 50ml and R1 195 for 75ml).
Notes-wise, you’re looking at black pepper, litchi and mandarin up top, a heart full of Damask rose absolute, jasmine, iris and orange blossom on a sophisticated base of patchouli, sandalwood and vanilla.
To compare it to its ‘sister’, the original was lighter and sweeter thanks to a dash of red currant jam, raspberry and peach. Elixir, however, is slightly more grown up with just the teensiest dash of sugar thanks to the litchi and patchouli tempered by the black pepper.
On my skin, it’s love at first spritz thanks to juicy litchi and uplifting mandarin top notes. This gives Elixir a timeless ‘youthfulness’, making it the kind of fragrance suitable for a lighthearted woman of any age. Next, the orange blossom (one of my favourite notes in the world) sweeps in along with a lush, fresh-smelling rose, something that lends the Elixir a lovely romantic aspect.
After a few minutes I can definitely pick up on the patchouli, but its subtle and clean. Eventually, by the time it dries down, you’re left with a slightly sweet yet warm-smelling mix of comforting sandalwood and creamy vanilla that gives the fragrance a cosy, sensual aspect.
In all honestly, I can’t imagine anyone disliking this fragrance. The original Lady Emblem was something I’d only wear on a summer’s day. Elixir, however, is multi-faceted enough (much like the Montblanc diamond) for all seasons, both day or night, provided you want to channel a ‘forever young’ yet grown up feminine elegance enhanced by warmth, confidence and maybe just a little romance.

What makes me feel more confident? When I’m wearing something that really compliments my body, when my make up and hair are on point and when my fiance tells me how beautiful I look and what a lucky guy he is. Sometimes you just wake up in a good mood… that also gives me more confidence. 🙂

Without a doubt, I feel at my sexiest and most confident when I’m wearing gorgeous lacy underwear. The more frilly, girly and feminine, the better… it’s like a naughty little secret that only I know about! Oh, and then dousing myself in a beautiful, luxurious fragrance is the icing on the cake.
most definitely perfume. I cant afford to buy me these fancy perfumes as its really expensive but I do have 2 bottles of “fancy perfume” (which is coming to its end) that I wear only on special occasions and date nights. When I have it on I feel like a new person especially because I don’t wear it often and also the compliments I get with it especially from my husband always sneaking a whiff in my neck 🙂

The thing that gives me the most confidence is this world is smelling great! We all have off days sometimes be it a bad hair day or make-up not on point but the one thing that can make up for that is a beautiful smelling fragrance. What makes me feel confident is when I am neatly groomed (nails and toes done and freshly painted ) and wearing my favourite Perfume (at the moment aromatics black…luuurve) …on a crap day you can stillool “vaal en pedanties” ..but as soon as someone says : wow woman you smell so damn nice!! ” -> DAY MADE ,CONFIDENCE 10/10 😉 I love perfume.breaks my heart to know that somewhere is a lady thats relying on a body lotion or spray to give her that hmmm mmm moment ,that why I always share mine (or collect samplessamples of the one im wearing and give it to people when they say I smell nice,I want them to smell nice too 🙂 )

When I am not in the mood, a hot red lipstick with fresh hair curls can do wonders to my confidence level. It can literally transforms my day! I love the design of the perfume and the Damask rose (also Rose of Castile) is an amazing smell in my mom’s garden!

The word “Confidence” to me means being prepared, content and completely in control. I started up my own little business a few months ago. As I left the corporate environment with the dream to run a full online business and not having to worry about dressing up everyday. I quickly learned that I was greatly mistaken for what the future did hold for me. I now run arround seeing clients, doing pitches, attending networking opportunities and alot of events and I can honestly say that the way I prepare for my day influences my confidence in a huge way. Getting up and doing a quick cardio session at the gym, preping my hair and painting my face, topping it of with my favourite fragrance makes me feel more confident to approach people and to dominate a room. After all confidence is not something you can see, but most definitely a presence felt or an expensive sent in the air.
