I was invited to the media preview of the new Life Day Spa at the V&A Pavillion the other day and it’s fabulous. You know where the BMW emporium used to be? It’s in there and its huuuuge making it the perfect place to host a spa party with your friends. Think bachelorettes, birthdays, baby showers and more!

To kick things off, we mingled over sushi, cheese and champers (always a good start) then explored the spa which is fabulously swish-looking.

Think lots of marble, glass, wood and luxe minimalist decor that inspires a feeling of opulence and calm. The show stopper, for me, however, was their huge indoor heated plunge pool area.

They’ve also got a very tranquil-looking floatation pool and a rasul chamber where you can experience a Middle Eastern mud ritual. Another highlight is their enormous mani and pedi area where they can treat up to ten people at a time using OPI and gelish products.

You’re also going to enjoy their changing area where you’ll find computerised lockers and top quality hair dryers. (There’s nothing worse than leaving a spa and discovering they have those rubbish mini travel dryers that ten hours to dry your hair!)
Being a spoiled cow, I got to enjoy a pedi and massage and thought my friendly, knowledgeable therapist, Pagen, had some mad skills when it came to the latter. She’s a migraine/tension headache baby like me so she knew exactly which areas to pummel and press and even did a little bit of reflexology on my feet and stuck her fingers into all the right trigger points on my neck and head. Girl gets five stars for really getting it!

If you’d like to experience the spa yourself now is the time to get up and go as their opening specials are fabulously pocket-friendly. Their Summer Sunshine special (it ends at the end of this month) serves up a 60 minute full body massage and a 60 min luxury pedi for just R690 and you also get to use their pool, steam room and rain shower. This is a serious bargain because if you had to pick the same treatment combo using their non-special ‘choose your own two-hour package’ option you’d pay R1 160 for it! So you’re almost getting R500 off! Run meisie kind! Run!

Another gem? Book a 60 minute massage or facial and enjoy a complimentary 30 minute session in their floatation pool.

P.S. On weekends and public holidays the spa closes at 5pm, but it’s open until 8pm during the week! Can I get an air punch from all your hard-working 9 to 5-ers out there?
