Filorga Lip Structure treatment serum review

Filorga have created a new Lip Structure serum (R550) that aims to plump up your lips while helping to smooth out the lines around your mouth.

The double-sided wand contains two formulas; one to plump and another to zap wrinklies.

The plumping formula contains Maxi-Lip*, a hydrating complex that contains moisturising oils as well as peptides to help stimulate collagen production. This way, you’re not getting a temporary plumping effect thanks to irritating ingredients that cause your lips to swell; instead, you’re ‘maintaining’ and ‘encouraging’ the tissue needed to create a full, youthful-looking pout.

As for the anti-wrinkle formula, it makes use of Matrixyl Synthe 6* which is supposed to help encourage the formation of collagen.

I’ve been using the product myself and like that the plumping formula, which feels a lot like a Labello lip balm when it’s on your lips, leaves them feeling soft and hydrated. It’s also got a nice (subtle) scent that reminds me a bit of a vanilla-orange creamsicle. In regards to the plumping effect, I can’t really comment on this; I wear lip gloss almost 24-7 so I didn’t reapply the product three times a day as indicated. If I’d been more stringent perhaps I’d have noticed an improvement in my pout.

The wrinkle-busting formula, however, is instantly gratifying. Its silicone-y texture/formula really does immediately blur the appearance of fine lines around the lips as well as the slight ‘marionette’ lines that have started deepening on my face ever since I hit my thirties. I even used it to soften the look of pores on and around my nose. In this way, it was much like all the other silicone-primers I’ve used but has one up on them in that its Matrixyl Synthe 6 is said to assist in treating your wrinkles in the long haul; just don’t skip out on your retinol serum, you can never be too armed in the fight against Father Time.

Interested? You’ll find Filorga goodies at selected Edgars and Red Square stores nationwide.

Love, love

*Maxi-Lip and Matrixyl Synthe 6 are both fairly new ingredients so I struggled to find indenpendent clinical trials regarding their efficacy. Both ingredients are made by a company called Sederma which has run their own in-house studies. If you’re interested, you can check out the results of their Maxi-Lip trial over here.
