We all know I love Dr. Dermal’s Texture Correction Pads, but now the proudly Saffa brand’s whipped out a new product to love – The Omega Skin Oil (R675, selected salons*).

If you’ve got dry, sensitive skin chances are you’ve got barrier issues which is totally different to boundary issues (but if you often find yourself being asked to ‘back the frick off’ from the person in front of you in queues you might have that too!) When your skin’s barrier function is impaired, it means the layers that protect it from external stressors are thin and patchy, for lack of a better descriptor. This can lead to all sorts of super fun shizz – think sensitivity, itching, dryness, redness, eczema and more.
There are lots of thing you can do to improve your skin’s barrier function. For starters, avoid anything ‘strippy’ (things like harsh soaps or foaming face washes as well as astringents), say no to scrubs, don’t wash with water that’s too hot and wear a good sunscreen. There are also good barrier-improving skin care ingredients you can look out for and two of them are ceramides and omega oils, both of which can be found in spades in Dr. Dermal The Omega Skin Oil.
So, what’s in the mix? Lots and lots of super oils! Think argan, olive, apricot, jojoba, macadamia, pomegranate, hemp, kiwi and more. It’s from these oils that you’re getting all your ceramides as well as your omegas (3, 5, 6, 7 and 9) in various molecular weights so they can travel to several different layers of your skin. Omega’s aside, you’re also getting antioxidant vitamins A, C and E as well as co-enzyme Q10.

When I get back from a long run and my face feels weathered from the biting wind, I like to reach for this pampering oil and consider it a hydrating, vitamin-rich smoothie for my face. It’s also the kind of thing I’ll use when I’m on a plane and want to fend off the dehydrating effects of all that blerrie aircon. Like, nobody wants to land in Paris looking like a prune, darling!
Love, love
Leigh
