If you’re a regular reader you’ll know I just love a good retinol serum and alternate that with AHAs to fend off Father Time. Thing is, both of those ingredients are pretty potent and you shouldn’t use them during the day as they don’t play nice in the sun. So, what do I use in the day, aside from a good SPF, as well as on night’s when my skin needs a break?
Usually, it’s a cream containing good ole vitamin C.
Your skin needs several ingredients, not just one ‘miraculous’ one, to keep it looking good and vitamin C is a multiple medical study-proven star performer. Hoekom? It multi-tasks like a boss! Seriously. Aside from being a potent antioxidant, it can help encourage collagen production and brighten by reducing the appearance of mild pigmentation. (If you’re really struggling in this department, I always suggest you go see a derm who can prescribe hydroquinone or a laser treatment.)
As far as vitamin C cream’s go, Environ’s Evenescence C-Boost Clarifying cream (R355, Sorbet and selected salons) is a real gem, as are most of their products.

It boasts a nice high concentration of ascorbyl tetraisopalmitate, a stable form of vitamin C, that shouldn’t irritate sensitive skin.

In regards to texture, it’s a mid-weight non-sticky lotion that doesn’t feel too heavy on my oily/combo skin provided I apply it sparingly. A little really does go a long way. Then, if I’m going to set foot out doors I use a foundation with a high SPF or just apply a sunscreen.
Love, love
