Review: INOAR Extreme Premium Oil for hair

INOAR is a Brazilian hair care brand that’s gaining popularity in South Africa. Their latest silicone-based serum, INOAR Extreme Premium Oil (R545, selected salons), launches in September and is a lovely, lightweight formula with a texture that reminds me a lot of Kerastase’s Elixir Ultime.

The shot looks out of focus but it's not - the metal tube's encased in clear printed plastic which creates that 'effect'.
The shot looks out of focus but it’s not – the packaging is a metal tube encased in clear plastic with a stick-on label that creates a ‘floaty’ effect.

In comparison to the other INOAR serums I’ve tried – BB Crème for hair serum and Argan Oil treatment oil (very heavy – best suited to very dry, thick hair), it’s definitely the finest, most silkier-textured of the bunch.

Aside from all the silicone, there are several hydrating oils in the mix – Argan, Macadamia and sunflower seed oil – as well as rose and rosemary leaf extracts (the latter is said to help improve hair growth, but then you’d have to slap it on your scalp) and, most interestingly of all, myrrh. A quick google’s revealed that myrrh, aside from being good enough for baby Jesus, is a great antioxidant and antiseptic that, according to another hair product that makes use of it, can ‘hold’ and ‘coat’ hair without weighing it down.

I’ve been applying it to my lengths while damp before blow drying for a few days now and love that it smoothes, softens and adds shine without a drop of heaviness provided you use the right amount and don’t get it anywhere near your roots. It’s also got a lovely scent that could best be described as ‘clean, subtle vanilla’. Lovely stuff for anyone with fine to medium-textured hair like me.

Love, love

Leigh
