Can you believe it’s almost time for Mercedez-Benz Cape Town Fashion Week again? I feel like I was sitting alongside the runway just the other day.
To celebrate the start of the run up to the event, media were invited to a fun travelling partytie that saw us hit up three different locations, travelling via a fleet of super sexy Mercedez-Benz’.

At the first location, the Everard Read gallery near the waterfront, we got to view models who’d got their hair and make-up ‘did’ by two of the event’s sponsors; ghd and MAC.

We then moved on to the super stylish DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in Woodstock for a round (or two) of cocktails.

At our final stop, the uber-luxe One&Only Hotel, also at the waterfront, we hovered up canapes and got to take in a series of talks from various fashion industry faces as well as AFI (Africa Fashion International) Young Designer of the Year Eleni Labrou (Akedo), possibly the only white girl I’ve seen who can rock corn rows and Lorde-style purple lippie and still look like a total hottie.
Anyway, if you’re keen on getting in on the MBFWCT action yourself, these are the deets you need to know:
Fashion Week runs from the 24th to the 26th of July and consists of 15 shows at the Cape Town International Convention Centre. To nab tickets to the shows, you can visit Webtickets.co.za and expect to pay between R100 and R250 per show. Highlights will include Gavin Rajah (who’s show’s already sold out online!), Kluk CGDT, Stefania Morland, Craig Port and a host of exciting new talent. To see the full schedule and get more information, visit AFI’s MBCTFW section over here.
A big dankie to the lovely Megan and all the girls from CSA PR for the invite. This was a fun evening out. Now am I going to see you girls at the shows? I can almost feel the champagne headache already…
Love, love
