8 hours in a bottle? Filorga Sleep-Recover Anti-Fatigue night balm review

Filorga’s Sleep Recover Anti-Fatigue Night Balm (R785, selected Edgars and Red Square stores) is an intensely hydrating silky-textured balm that, among other things, promises to help reduce dark under eye circles and puffiness, the signs of tired, stressed out skin.

Aside from mega-hydrating hyaluronic acid and Filorga’s NCTF collagen-boosting complex, the balm uses an ingredients derived from the silk tree which, Filorga reckon, will help detox your skin, ‘rebalance the sleep hormone melatonin’ and reduce the amount of lipofuscin it accumulates. (The latter is the pigment responsible for a dull-looking complexion.)

Last but not least, it also makes use of circulation-boosting anti-inflammatory horse chestnut extract to decongest and soothe.

I’ve been using it on and off now, not for a consecutive amount of time, so I can’t comment on it’s anti-dulling effects. Also, I have no clue as to whether my skin’s melatonin is out of whack or not but I can tell you this; on night’s when I slap this on before bed I do wake up to better-looking skin in that everything’s nice and plump-looking. God bless you, hyaluronic acid.

Also, on night’s when I’ve downed half a bottle of vino and then crawled into bed after 12, I do tend to wake up to puffy-looking eye lids. Funny that. However, applying this before bed seems to diminish it somewhat. Then, any remaining pufftasticalness can be completely klapped with any caffeine-riddled eye cream.

Other things I like? The fact that it comes in a pump bottle as opposed to a jar is fabulous; this’ll prevent the actives from oxidizing and ensure they remain potent to the last drop.

While Filorga say you can use this under your night cream, I’m combination skinned so I’d find that too rich. A better plan for me would be to team it with a wrinkle-busting retinol serum.

Anyway, if you’re interested, you’ll find it on the shelves in selected Edgars and Red Square stores going for R785.

Love, love

Leigh

  1. Hello!Thank you, good review! But I am confused now… Is it really worth to use this product as a serum? I didn’t get any information about this point niether on the website nor in the manual ((

    1. Hi Nika

I find the cream rather rich (I’m oily-skinned) so I’d use it as a night cream and then apply a sheerer, silkier textured serum beneath it. If you’re very, very dry you could possibly get away with using it together with another moisturiser but I’m worried the two together would start to pill.

      Hope this helps!
