The reviews are in; here’s the best of my spoilicious Kiehl’s bunch

A little while back Nina from Kiehl’s spoiled me rotten with a nice, fat stash of the brand’s bestsellers. Out of all the goodies I got to try, these babies that impressed me the most.

First up, we’ve got this boy:

Kiehl’s Over-Night Biological Peel, R529.

Many skin peeling treatments contain alpha hydroxy acids to chemically exfoliate your skin. Sure they work, but if you’re the sensitive type, they can end up stinging and irritating too. Kiehl’s peel, however, uses skin-softening urea which also exfoliates skin, but in a different, gentler way.

I like slapping this baby on my face every couple of nights and always wake up to baby soft skin that looks brighter and plumper. The only negative is that it doesn’t really ‘dry’. You kind of go to bed feeling like you’ve got Vaseline on your face. It’s still worth it though ‘cos it genuinely does ensure you wake up looking a l’il prettier than the day before. Score!

Another goodie?

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Oil-Free Cleanser, R229.

This stuff is great! It reminds me a lot of Clinique’s rinse off foaming cleanser which I used to be obsessed with in high school. I only need to use the teensiest little drop to create a lush, thick lather that removes all my make up and leaves my face feeling clean but not stripped. The best bit, however, is that it’s sulphate-free, oil-free, fragrance-free and colourant-free, making it a nice choice for anyone with oily, sensitive skin. Despite using it up to twice a day, this tube is going to last me at least six months so in terms of value, it’s the shizz.

The next product I want to talk about didn’t come in Nina’s box – I snapped it up on eBay after reading all the great reviews on Makeupalley (it got a 4,4 out of 5!) – but it sooo deserves a write-up ‘cos it totally lives up to the hype.

Kiehl’s Epidermal Re-Texturising Micro-Dermabrasion scrub, price TBA.

If you’re a regular reader you’ll know my pet hate is scrubs that are 90% face wash and 10% grain; they pretty much do ZERO for my skin. This boy, however, is jam-packed with microfine scrubbies that give your face a serious scrub down. So much so that if you use it for two consecutive days or massage it into your skin for too long you’ll probably end up hurting yourself, so best you use it carefully.

I love how it strips off every drop of facial self-tan and leaves my skin feeling invigorated, refined and super squeaky clean. Afterwards, I always feel like any serum or cream I apply is going the extra mile in terms of absorption and it’s done wonders in regards to improving my blackhead prone nose and chin. Yay!

Last but not least, I really want to mention these dudes, despite having written about them before:

Kiehl’s Super Defence UV Fluid SPF 50 (R439) and Kiehl’s Creme de Corps body lotion (R210 for 250mls).

The SPF is totes amaze in that it’s crazy high, but feels like a light, runny ‘milk’ so it spreads over your skin like a dream. No gloopiness here, darlings. I like to wear it on my face when I run on the prom.

As for Kiehl’s cultastical Creme de Corps, you like totally knew it would make the list, right? I mean, everyone on the planet is into this bloody product. But it is lovely. I like how it hydrates but doesn’t feel ‘heavy’. Oh! And Kate Moss is a big fan so, if you use it, you’ll stand a much better chance of growing up to becoming an iconic uber-cool supermodel. Like obviously.

Now tell me, which Kiehl’s goodies have you used and loved? And what are you dying to try? We can chat about it in the comments section.

Love, love

    1. I was given that but I think their Line-Reducing Eye-Brightening Concentrate is better formulated to do the exact same thing even though that’s not the specified use on the packaging. Read what Paula Begoun says about it on Beautypedia to see what I mean.

  1. The Overnight Biological Peel is really good. I didn’t see any difference the first time I used it but after two or three uses I could definitely see my skin looked better in the morning. I also find the stickiness a bit annoying. It feels like it is all going to just wipe off on my pillow!

    1. Ja, I hear you. I have a satin pillow cover so I kind of feel free to roll around and mess it up as much as I like, slip it off in the morning and then pop it into the wash. Easy peasy 😉

  2. Hi! I’m sure I saw a Kiehl’s section in Edgars in Canal Walk? Or was it just a pop up promo vibe? They have some fabulous hair produucts too!
