Yonks back, I ran into Dr. Susanne Reuther, the owner of Wings Group, at the opening of a Petticoat Parlour. This is the company that imports sinfully delicious treats like Werther’s choccie, Bahlsen wafers and, the most evil/awesome of all, Toffifee! If you’re a regular follower of my blog, you’ll know that Toffifee is my biggest weakness (and probably the reason why I’m struggling to squeeze into jeggings this winter…)

Anyway, as it turns out Susanne reads Lipgloss too and knew all about my Toffifee addiction. She was also kind enough to offer to send a jar of treats to my office, but I never really took her very seriously at the time. After all, I was three glasses of champers into the event and practically falling off the balcony when we spoke… for all I knew it could’ve been a Pongraz-induced day dream. So, imagine my surprise when, sure enough, a GIANT jar of goodies made it’s way to my work. Just look at the sheer size of the thing:

Naturally, I’m now the most popular girl in the office. And I’m convinced my Wings Group wonder jar is all I need for my bosses to now overlook the fact that I waste huge amounts of their bandwidth watching vintage Britney Spears videos on YouTube… or that that I’m slowly embezzling thousands of rands from the books… (kidding… kidding… I mean Britney’s sooo passe… ) Also, ‘cos I’m, like, superfabulous, I’m only too happy to share my loot amongst my office, spreading Penguin choccie-infused love to places as far and wide as the ‘Jet Dungeon’, down in our basement level.

Was lovely to help brighten up my co-workers’ day, see all the happy smiles as they got stuck in and found their favourites and listen to things like ‘Flippen heck! I haven’t had a Penguin in years…’, ‘I didn’t know you could McVitie’s Digestives in SA…’ and ‘That Werther’s toffee thing is incredible… do you mind if I stick my hand in again?’

Still, there’s one thing I certainly won’t be parting with and that’s my beloved Toffifee…

THANK YOU Susanne and the Wings team, you’ve made my week. Opening that big box and getting to run around the office with the jar (which is bloody heavy, by the way…) was the most exciting thing I’ve got to do in ages. And I’m truly touched by your unnecessary, but much appreciate sweetness – in every sense of the word.
