Ooooh, how exciting is this… I’ve just been invited to the Veuve Clicquot Masters, (SA’s glammest, most fabulous polo event) and am on the VIP list, nogal. Looking v. v. forward to schmingling with zexy celebs and hot polo player dudes…
Do you think they’ll all be as gorgeous as Brazilian polo player/male model Nacho Figueras?
Dude’s so hot, I could tooootally ignore the fact that his name sounds like a starter on Spur’s Tex Mex menu…
Anyhoo, back to the Masters… Aside from being a great opportunity to network, I’m also going to get to indulge in a luxurious lunch and drown in a vat of fancy French champers.
While google-stalking the brand, I came across this fabulous little factoid: last year a bunch of divers discovered loads of seriously old champagne bottles on a sunken ship off the coast of a Finnish island. Included in the mix were 46 bottles of Veuve Clicquot thought to be produced between 1782 and ’88.
Ella Gruessner Cromwell-Morgan (how’s that for a name?), a Finnish wine expert, was asked to taste it. She marveled at the fact that it still hadn’t lost its fizz and declared it ‘absolutely fabulous’.
If you’d like to join in all the Veuve Clicquot awesomeness, get thee to Computicket. A General Access ticket is R350,00, while a VIP ticket is R950,00. The event takes place on the 17th of April (a Sunday) at the Val de Vie wine & polo estate in Paarl.
