Review: Revlon Ultra HD lipstick and lip lacquers

It’s been raining lippies on the blog for a while now and the latest to cross my desk are Revlon’s Ultra HD lipstick (R145) and lip lacquers (R145).

There isn’t a lot of information available about these dudes online – Revlon only says that they’re made using ‘revolutionary wax-free gel technology that delivers true colour clarity without the heavy feel’. Either way, they’re right. The colours are fabulously impactful and yep, they do feel nice and light on your lips.

Right! It’s swatch time!

Of the two products, I most like the lacquer as it doesn’t feel sticky but it sits tight. The lipstick feels amaaahzing on your mouth – like a moisture bath for your lips – but as it’s got so much ‘slip’, it doesn’t stick around and you have to reapply it often.

Packaging-wise, the lacquer wins again. It’s pretty sleek-looking and the rhinestone on the cap is a nice touch. I’m not a huuuuge fan of the lippie tube though. The actual lipstick doesn’t wind all the way down so I’m just going to have to be super careful as to how I recap it until I get to the point where I’ve used enough of it for it to fully ‘hide’ in the tube.

As far as scent and flavour goes, the gloss doesn’t smell or taste much like anything but the lipstick is deliciously fruity smelling and tastes good too. I know there are loads of people who don’t appreciate that but I’ve always rather liked scented, flavoured lip products.

See anything you like?

Love, love

*Notice how auburn my brows look in this pick? That’s the result of a crap ‘blonde’ eyebrow pencil I won’t be reccomending on the blog. This is exactly why I’m always saying it’s important to snap a shot (preferably with flash) of any new makeup you intend to buy with a flash before you hand over your money. That pencil looks good to the naked eye but now so good on film, hence into the giveaway pile it goes.
