There have been so much hotly anticipated beauty launches this year but Michael Kors’ luxurious new fragrance and cosmetics line pretty much takes the cake.

Divvied up into three lines – Sporty, Sexy and Glam – each consists of a fragrance and a carefully edited selection of cosmetics. There are also a smattering of indulgent body products to lust over.
So, let’s get stuck in and chat a bit about the scents, Michael Kors Sporty Citrus, Sexy Amber and Glam Jasmine eau de toilettes.

Sporty Citrus features zexy orange and mandarin top notes mingling with warm wood and subtle white florals. To me it smells fresh, clean, and young yet sophisticated. It’s the kind of casual, easy to wear scent I could happily spritz on and go.
Sexy Amber is all about warm, sensual amber, sandalwood and musk with a splash of citrus and a dash of the white florals for which Michael is known. And yes, it is very, very sexy.
As for Glam Jasmine, it’s possibly the fragrance most like Michael’s earlier scents in that it’s all about jasmine, jasmine, jasmine. This is the one I was given from the brand’s fab PR (love you Helen!) and I’m utterly in love with it. It’s light and fresh enough to spritz on every single day, regardless of whether you’re putting out the glamour vibes or not. In short, it can do a fun sushi lunch with the girls just as well as a sexy date night with le boy.
As an example of the type of woman who’d gravitate to each scent, Michael assigned a celeb to each (in his press release, not in a campaign) and said casually elegant Gwyneth Paltrow would be a Sporty Citrus girl, man eating Angelina Jolie might wear Sexy Amber and Glam Jasmine would be ideal for a true blue diva like Jennifer Lopez.

Fragrances aside, Sporty Sexy Glam also serves up gorgeous selection of beautifully packaged colour cosmetics that, once again, have been divvied up into the three categories. Sporty is all about nudes, Sexy (my favourite) features bright pinks and reds and Glam is a selection of rich, plummy and violet hues.

As far as items go, you’re looking at a lollipop-flavoured lip lacquer (R275), fabulously creamy lipstick (R275), nail polish (R215) and silky-texture bronzing powder (R550). A bronzing powder brush is also available for R515.
Last but not least, there’s the body line up and, as Michael Kors has always been all about the sun tan, these items focus on creating and enhancing a sun-kissed glow. Thus, you’re looking at an amber-tinted fast-acting white floral-scented self-tan lotion (R350); an indulgent hydrating after sun gelee (R350) and hydrating ‘after sun’ shimmering lip balm (R295).

I’ve been told that, in Cape Town, the collection’s currently sitting at Stuttafords in Canal Walk but will roll out into more stores as the month goes on.
Seen anything you’d like to add to your Christmas wish list? I’m most definitely going to be treating myself to another perfume, most probably Sporty Citrus.
Love, love

Hi Leigh, my favorit-ist lipgloss girl! Leigh, I don’t really know where else to ask this, but I’m going on holiday in January and obviously need to think about sunscreen for face and body. I have option fatigue at the sunscreen isle and immediately thought that I should ask your advice. Leigh, could you please suggest a brilliant sunscreen for face and one for body, purleeese!?
Hi skat! I love Heliocare’s gel for my face but when it comes to my body I’m not too fussed. Your pick off the shelf would be as good as mine. Just find a texture and smell that you like best and ensure it doesn’t leave a white cast on your skin.
