The best of my Avon product box

So remember how I told you that Avon sent me a bunch of goodies the other day? I’ve already raved about their awesome Avon Glow bronzing pearls in a previous post, it was pretty much the stand out product of the bunch. Still, there were other li’l darlings that impressed and I thought I’d fill you in.

For starters, Avon Solutions Hydra Beyond extra hydrating cream (R99) is divine.

It’s ingredients include glycerine, shea butter and urea, it promises to immediately increase your skin’s moisture content by up to 300%. As an oily skinned person who still needs hydration, I adore it’s super-light yet mega-moisturising gel-cream texture. It kind of reminds me of a slightly richer version of L’Oreal’s Hydrafresh creme-gel which I used to be obsessed with back in the day. This is intended to be used to quench your skin at night and doesn’t have any anti-aging properties but it plays very nicely with my retinol serum and I wake up looking dewy and relaxed.

Next up, how awesome is their ‘2 in 1’ Sun+ SPF 20 anti-shine face cream with an SPF 30 sun screen stick (R120)?

The sunscreen fluid’s formula is fabulous in that it’s nice and light and sinks into your skin in a flash; no horrid white caste or gross greasy residue. Screwing off the clear cap reveals a high SPF sun stick that you slick onto super sensitive bits like your nose, ears or lips. Love that! The only downside is that the tube, at 30mls, is kind of small but ag wat, it’s nice for your handbag.

I also really like Avon’s Clearskin Professional Blemish Mark Treatment, R90.

It contains 2% salicylic acid so it’ll deep clean your pores to prevent spots while chemically exfoliating your skin to reveal a fresher, brighter-looking face and fade the dark marks that get left behind after a breakout. It comes in an airtight squeezy tube to ensure the acid remains potent and has a ball applicator, kind of like a roll on deodorant. I’m not sure why they did that – I’d have been just as happy with a pump bottle, but hey. It’s a great, effective formula.

Another goodie? Avon Ideal Flawless matte mousse foundation, R149,95.

I initially tried a light shade that matched my skin but my overall impression was ‘meh’. I mean, it evened out my skin and all, but only the teensiest amount as the coverage was so sheer. I then used a much darker shade (Matte Honey) and promptly fell in love. Like I said, as it’s super sheer, you can totally get away with using a darker shade and use it kind of like a ‘tint’ to create a healthy-looking faux glow. I love that it glides onto your skin like a dream and, thanks to all the silicone it contains, it blurs the look of fine lines and pores. Also, despite the aforementioned silicone, it didn’t turn my oily T-panel into a slick.

Last but not least? Avon’s Nail Experts conditioning cuticle pen (R59,95) is lovely.

A hydrating mix of essential oils and vitamin E, it comes in a cute ‘brush pen’ packaging just like a Stila Lip Glaze. It’s super easy to carry around in your bag (no nasty spilling or miff, leaky tube to deal with) and the whole twist ‘n brush action makes it fun to use.

Now tell me, are you also an Avon fan? Is there anything you’re addicted to that I simply have to try? Let me have it in the comments section.

Love, love

Leigh

  1. I love Avon’s Brow Pencil in Dark Brown that has a little browbrush at the end of it. Lasts the whole day.

  2. My faves are the Skin So Soft Dry Oil spray – super moisturing without being greasy – and O2 for women (a fresh clean smelling fragrance)! There are others but I can’t think of them right now.
