David Beckham’s brought out another fragrance. I’ve sniffed a few of his and the missus’ scents before and all of them have struck me as being very ‘meh’. His latest, however, Instinct Sport, is pretty awesome.

To me, Instinct Sport smells cool, fresh and vetiver-y, despite that fact that it doesn’t actually contain any vetiver. Its zesty top notes include ginger ale (!), mandarin and violet leaves while its ‘ozonic’ heart is all about geranium leaves and apple. The base is a woody blend of cashmeran, patchouli and sandalwood.

If my boyfriend didn’t already own YSL L’Homme Libre, I’d be very happy for him to run around smelling like Instinct Sport. In fact, the two scents smell so similar, I can’t help but wonder if David sniffed YSL’s creation first and then fired off an e-mail to his perfumiers saying ‘make it smell like that!’

Another cool thing about the scent? Unlike many other celebrity scents, the packaging doesn’t feel cheap and nasty* and boasts a heavy metallic cap that’s been magnetized so it ‘clicks’ into place when you close it.
