Badger SPF15 Sunscreen review

I’m sucker for cute packaging, so the moment I spotted Badger Balm in my local Wellness Warehouse a few years back, I fell instantly in love.

Get a load of its sheer, unabashed cuteness!

This is Badger Sleep Balm, a soothing blend of all natural ingredients.

Adorbs right? It’s 100% organic and apparently American dog owners like to put a little of it on their doggies noses, to calm them during thunderstorms. 😉

Anyhoo, I totally jumped at the change to try the brand’s new all natural, eco friendly sunscreen and am so glad I did, ‘cos its really lovely.

Badger SPF15 Sunscreen, R200,00. A 100% natural born cutie!

There are several to choose from in the range (think unscented, scented, varying SPFs etc) and I’ve been using the water resistant, lightly scented SPF15 option. Made from certified organic plant extracts like extra virgin olive oil, jojoba oil and cocoa butter, it’s very, very moisturising. So much so that when I first applied it, I worried it would be too rich or sticky. Fortunately, it absorbs into your skin super fast. (And I’m not particularly dry, just so you know…)

I also like that it doesn’t leave a horrid white sheen on your skin, as do many other organic sunscreens. You see, most, if not all, all-natural sunscreens make use of a natural sun ray-blocking mineral called Zinc Oxide. This literally coats your skin all over to block out those evil UV buggers – and can leave a pale-looking sheen in it’s wake. However, as Badger makes use of microionized zinc oxide, the particles are sooo teeny tiny that you don’t see them on your bod. Love that!

Another impressive little factoid? Due to it’s mega-moisturising properties, I’ve taken to rubbing it into this little dry patch I have on my left elbow. (My art director, Hannes, has just informed me that I am, in fact, suffering from ‘desk elbow’. He says his pharmacist sees a lot of it and considers it a condition of our times. Oddly, this patch IS in the exact spot where I rest my elbow on my desk while trawling the net! Hmmm…)

After using the Badger sunscreen to inadvertently treat my DE all of last week, I can tell you that it’s not gone, but greatly improved.

A big two thumbs up for Badger!

xx
