I tried One Juice in Sea Point’s new DIY Super Smoothies and now I’m obsessed

One Juice have been whipping out top notch cold-pressed juice for ages but now the Sea Point store in Regent Road is selling awesome Super Smoothies too. But wait, it gets even better. They’re also offering smoothie ingredients in a tub that you can freeze and then whip up at home for just R29 a pop.

Hello there new friends!
Hello there new friends!

Aside from being nutritious, they’re delicious too. But let’s get back to the nutritious bit. Much like One Juice’s juice, the smoothies contain no chemicals, added sugar, preservative, gluten, animal products or dairy and absolutely nothing is pasteurised. You’re looking at a simple tub filled with a host of yummy good-for-you things that can be popped into your freezer until you’re ready to use them.

This green one was the first I tried and it tasted great!

This is awesome ‘cos now, when I feel like a smoothie, I don’t have to get my ass to a place that sells them. I can whip them up in my kitchen.

I used my regular el cheapo blender (i.e. not a Nutribullet) and things worked out just fine.

Even better, I can doll them up a bit by adding all my favourite extras – protein powder, powdered probiotics and fibre powder. (I know most of the smoothies contain a good amount of fibre already, but I can never get enough.) Speaking of enough, know that each tub makes a good two glasses of smoothie. (One for me and one for my flatmate if I was a nice enough person to share.)

Tastes like YES, PLEASE!

As I’m on a hideous bikini diet right now (Cancun in 12 days!) I first tried the smoothies that didn’t contain the yumminess that is almond and peanut butter as I thought they’d be a little lower in kilojoules and a part of me thought they’d be less delicious by default but OMG they were good.

Berry Bliss, a mix of strawberries, blueberries, bananas, dates and chia seeds is a total world rocker.

If you’re looking to whip up your own One Juice smoothies, simply pop into their store in Sea Point after calling in your order ahead of time. The smoothies aren’t sitting in One Juice’s own freezer. Each one’s ingredients get chopped up on site so what you take home to freeze is as fresh as it gets.

Love, love

Leigh
