Maybe she’s born with, but maybe it’s cool new shizzle from Maybelline: Master Blush, Vivid Matte Liquid lip colour and Brow Drama Pomade Crayon

Maybelline have recently launched a whackload of new goodies and I got sent a bunch of them to play with. Some didn’t hit the spot but many of their newbies are pure drugstore gold and I’m only too happy to fill you in on them.

First up, let’s talk about Maybelline Master Blush (R99,95).

This is just a smattering of the shades available.

The packaging is kind of different in that the lid slides upwards, like an Audi R8. It feels a bit flimsy, to be honest, and will probably break at some point, but I don’t care. I’ll be buying the coral shade, Peach Pop, until it’s no longer manufactured as I love, love, love it! It’s a dead ringer for Benefit’s Love & Mirage that I used to be obsessed with and bought long after it was discontinued via eBay. It’s literally the perfect shade of matte, fresh, spring-y peach and I’m going to live and die in it this entire summer. If you’re a cool-toned blonde looking for a perfect peach, this is it.

Love to love you baby!
Oh Peach Pop, you make me so freakin’ happy, it’s ridic.

Next up, you should know about Vivid Matte Liquid lip colour (R109,95).

From left to right you've got X
From left to right you’ve got Nude Flush, Electric Pink, Berry Boost and Rebel Red.

An intensely pigmented liquid lippie with a super smooth, silicone-y feel, each shade serves up a serious dose of colour. So much so that when you slick it on with it’s little doe foot applicator it almost feels a ‘bit much’ if you’re not into making a serious lip statement. However, I’ve found that if you pat it on using your finger you can create this awesome ‘wash’ effect and that’s why I’m currently living la vida loca with Electric Pink in my handbag. I like that it’s super light weight, doesn’t feel like it’s drying out my lips and has a bit of a stain effect, so even when the colour wears off you’re still left sitting pretty.

In the same order from up top, you’ve got Nude Flush, Electric Pink, Berry Boost and Rebel Red.

You should also know about Brow Drama Pomade Crayon color & fix brow crayon (R129,95).

The two shades I was given are X and X
The two shades I was given are Dark Brown and Medium Brown.

To date, my favourite Maybelline brow product in the world is Maybelline Brow Satin duo. I love it’s ‘precision’ and how quick and easy it is to use. Still, this cute li’l chubby is really growing on me. I like that the colour glides on like a boss (you get a lot of pigment quick, so you need a light hand) and then looks natural, but bold, if that makes sense. It’s easier to get more of a statement brow with this guy than Brow Satin. My top application tip is to run a spooly wand through your brow once you’re done to shape and soften and then use a sponge to clean up any colour that might get dragged out of the brow line.

Lastly, if you’re craving yet more Maybelline mooiness you should know about The Colossal Kajal 12H Extra Black eye pencil (R49,95, Dis-Chem).

Hoezit!
Hoezit!

As it turns out this guy isn’t new (I just thought he was as I found him in the press pack) but I’m impressed regardless. I’ve been using felt tip pen-style liners for a while now as I find them the easiest to work with but there’s something to be said about this wind-up bad boy. The colour pay off is great, the glide is good and the staying power is top notch. Also, if you want to colour your waterline with a kohl that never says die, this guy is your new bestie. One stroke and it’s jet black!

'Cos I'm just a hand hippo doing my hand hipp best to get though life, yo!

Right, are you ready for a little on face action? I’m wearing the Brow Drama Pomade Crayon in Dark Brown (because my brows are currently tinted a darker shade), Master Blush in Peach Pop (mad love!) and the Vivid Matte Liquid lip colour in Electric Pink using my pat-it-on technique.

For the record, I regret not putting on eye shadow to disguise how exhausted I am/look.

See anything you like?

Love, love

Update: ARRRRRRRRGGGGHHHHHH! I’m not sure why but WordPress is totally draining the colour from my shots. That lippie and blush are so much brighter and ‘poppy’ in the shot I upload, but the version that displays is completely faded. Please check out my instagram for an accurate portrayal of these pretty colours. I’m @lipglossgirlxoxo.
