So last night was the VIP opening of the much anticipated H&M store in the V&A.

Once inside, myself and blogger bestie Karisa armed ourselves with bubbles and shopping baskets to cruise the (enormous!) store. Our mission was to make the most of our one night only 20% discount but I ended up feeling overwhelmed and left with just a white blazer that was a very reasonable R399 prior to be discounted.

I also came close to buying one of these fringe bags in brown but ultimately put it down as I felt it sat too high up in my arm pit.

As for Karisa, she managed to find a tee with our weekend mantra on it.

I also lost my mind in the (amazing!) home decor section upstairs and nearly brought home a kitten covered duvet.

The free booze had kicked in at this stage and I made a point of wandering around the store asking cute boys if they’d still get it on with a girl if they went back to her apartment and discovered a kitten-covered bed. Pretty much all of them said they wouldn’t mind (although DJ Dino Moran said he’d need to be blind folded) so there’s still a chance I might go back for it.

Other things you should know about? Their kidswear department is fabulous.

Clearly a lot ‘cos I totally thought I could possible squeeze into this rocking kiddie’s cozzie.

In all, my verdict is as follows: H&M SA has some very nice stuff and the quality reminds me a helluva lot of Forever 21, but in some places it’s a lot better. As far as prices go, for the most part, they’re on par with Cotton On. The only thing I didn’t like is that the store’s lighting makes you look haggard and old and while Karisa says she’s blocked the changing room experience from her mind I’m still suffering from post traumatic stress syndrome. But I guess that’s nothing a therapeutic puppy pillow (possibly charged to Discovery Health as a healing animal therapy asset) can’t make better.
So, are you going to pop into the stores over the weekend or wait for the crowds to calm down?
Love, love

Please forgive the slightly faded out look of my shots. My camera did not play well in this store’s lighting. Same could be said for my butt.
I’ve been waiting for an H&M blog post all day!!!
I want to shop there so badly… Perhaps a trip to CT should be in the cards 😉
At this rate I think that shopping at H&M here is cheaper to London, and that’s impressive!

There stuff is lovely and definitely cheaper than London, but don’t plan an entire trip around it in case it disappoints you. While I liked what I saw, but I still feel I have a better hit rate in terms of the amount of things I walk away with at Cotton On.
