So yesterday was the much anticipated Veuve Clicquot Masters polo match at Val de Vie estate out in Franschoek.

This is always a hot event ‘cos you get up to dress up, drink litres of free VC (if you’re in the VIP area) and eat a veritable mountain of fancy pants cheese. I know a million other people will blather on about how it’s a fabulous day for social networking and zexy local fashion, but really, for me, it’s all about the cheese.

Seriously though, the fashion is a focal point so let me show you a little bit of who wore what. First up we’ve got Jen Su rocking a pretty Jenni Button dress.

Jenni Button and Hilton Weiner are very much part and parcel with VC and put on a little fashion show. I didn’t bother to take piccies of this ‘cos my camera’s giving me dramz at the moment (takes ages to take a shot) so I’d only have ended up with a bunch of shots of hot, young model peeps at awkward angles. The mo I get some official pics I’ll be sure to include a few of them here.
Other local hotties looking glam? Fashion blog Luxo’s Ritza van Rensburg in a beautiful little lace number.

Ritza recently won best dressed at the L’Ormarin’s Queen’s Plate as is expected when you’re dating celeb stylist Elrico Bellingham. He rocked a pair of shades all day to hide his non-existent ‘hideous eye bags’ as he’d been up late the night before helping to hand stitch her dress. (That’s true love right there, ne girls? Bugger having a man who takes out the trash and does the dishes… you want a boy who hand stitches your couture…)
Anyway, I told Ritza her dress reminded me of an Anna Sui perfume my mom used to wear and I don’t think she got what I was talking about so here’s a piccie to prove I’m not a complete mentalist.

But ja, moving on. Other stylish peeps on the scene included actress Natalie Becker pulling off the new monochrome trend, actress Lee-Anne Summers in a sequinned Top Shop number, Top Billing’s Jeannie D looking gorgeous in gold and kykNET’s Kia Johnson in orange pictured with my beloved bestie Karis Piss.

Expresso’s Leigh-Anne Williams looked super glam in a Victor K gown, celeb stylist Marilize de Clercq sparkled in Kobus Dippenaar and local designer Hendrik Vermeulen (so young, so cute!) along with a gorgeous, super tall model who’s name I didn’t catch who was wearing one of his own creations.

Celeb publicist/man about town Thulane ‘Toolz’ Hadebe was one of the fashion judges.

Another honourable mention should go to producer Grant Paul Roy for daring to wear a pink cummerband.

Oh! Another reason why we just looove the polo? It’s always a cute model/actor boy fiesta (even without Ryk Neethling who happens to be in the states right now. Drat.)

Aidan’s mom came to fetch him when the party ended and handed him a wine glass from her kitchen so he could go back to the bar and get her a take away glass of wine. Love that! (And if this sentence is gone next time you look it’s ‘cos he’s kakked me out for it.) The chica to the left of him is a new bestie of mine, Chelle Lovatt of Deer Dear pillow cases. We share the same birth date, so obviously she’s totes amaze.
Anyway, much like the boys, the weather was also incredibly hot. I can’t tell you how grateful I was that waiters were weaving their way through the crowd to hand out ice cream and Elizabeth Arden sunscreen.

Arden actually had a whole station set up in one of the estate’s halls.

After stealing a shameful amount of Eight Hour Cream and draining the very last of the champagne bar, it was suddenly time to go home. I’m now quite certain I’m going to feel hungover for at least three days (and possible develop diabetes from the amount of ice cream I ate) but, as always, the VC Masters was totally worth it.
A big thank you to Anina, Lameez, Dom and the rest of the Vivid Luxury PR team for having me. You guys pulled off one helluva bash. Also, a big dankie dankie to Tarryn from The Bride & The Beautiful who was kind enough to do myself and Chelle’s make-up and hair. The girl is a whizz with mini eyelash extensions, totally gets Jessica Simpson hair and does a great daytime smokey eye.

Tarryn charges R350 for full make-up and hair. She’s been in the biz for over ten years and often works on big deal shoots with celebs like Jeannie D and Liezel van der Westhuizen so she totally knows what she’s doing.

Love, love
Leigh

Ag dankie skat! Ja, I loved it. Tarryn is definitely my new obsession. Will end up running over to her place (she’s in Kenilworth) just to get my hair done.
