Sunglass Hut’s Cape Town Out the Box party; a killer good time

Last week I nipped into Sunglass Hut’s Out The Box party held in a tent on a wharfhead in the V&A Waterfront.

The bash was put together by Press Room to celebrate the brand’s new ‘pop up shop’ concept; a mobile Sunglass Hut container stocked to the brim with limited edition sunnies travel around South Africa so you can snap them up regardless of whether you’re near a fixed store or not.

Clouds, Karis, me and Alex wearing various Ray-Bans.

Local actress Alex McGregor does her own make-up and has perfected cat eye liner so I kind of hate her a bit. But just a little teensy little bit.

Looking mooi chica!
Her secret is to use gel liner and apply it with a brush.

After clinking glasses with blueberry champagne…

…we got to browse Sunglass Hut’s sunglasses collection that included these gorgeous Prada Baroques (R2750) that Natalie Becker was wearing.

Mooiness.
They’re Prada’s darling…

Prada’s Baroque’s were a big sunglasses trend last year and will still be going strong in 2013:

Kelly Rowland, Eva Mendes and whichever Olsen that is have all been spotted wearing them.

After even more blue champers and delish canapés, dancers took to the stage and a giant ‘box’ opened up to reveal a selection of SA celebs that included Cindy Nell and Janez Vermeirin wearing Sunglass Hut’s designer eye wear.

There was loads of faux smoke so my camera didn’t quite capture the moment.

This was followed by an awesome live performance by Toya de Lazy. I’d never seen her perform before but she’s really good, reminded me a bit of Nicky Minaj and I’m now a total fan. When she sang Love is in the Air the whole crowd went crazy, lifting up their glasses, jumping up a down and just having a killer good time in general.

Toya de Lazy; tres kiff.

Blogger/photographer Denzil Jacobs shot a fab video of the show. It makes for much better viewing than my blurry li’l photies so I’m not even going to try and compete. Check out Denzil’s video below:

Crowd-wise, the room was packed with fashion eds, bloggers and local celebs like soccer star Ryan Botha, eTV’s Tanya Nefdt, model Tanya van Graan and Expresso’s Liezel van der Westhuizen. You actually couldn’t miss Liezel; girl was rocking a ‘shave-cut’ with Table Mountain dyed into it!

For the record, that’s not a mole on the right there; it’s the sun setting over the ‘table’.

Comedian/actor/genuinely nice guy Siv Ngesi was all out and about. Turns out he lives in my building so I may well invite him over next time I make my famous lasagne (which may or may not come from Woolies and require just a few minutes in the micro…)

Forgive my tangly-looking hair; this was held on that super windy day when trucks got blown off the highway.

While the vibe was awesome and I’d have loved to have stayed on a bit, I had to hustle to get to the Guess party in Camps Bay which was also on that same night. Still, I didn’t leave empty handed…

Thanks Sunglass Hut; I can’t wait to hit up one of your stores to pick something out. Having browsed their site, I’ve now got my eye on these babies:
