Dr. Brandt hits SA shores

If you didn’t know, Dr. Brandt is a big deal dermatologist in the states who treats even bigger deal celebs like Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow.

According to Gwynnie, she likes Dr. Brandt's Laser A-peel system, Pores No More Pore Refiner and Microdermabrasion cream among others...

Anyway, the doc who says he performs more Botox and filler injections than any other dermatologist in the world has his own skincare line which is now available in South Africa. I attended the launch the other day and was impressed by a series of before shots of women looking old and haggard as the hills and then suddenly ten years younger after a few needle pokes from Dr. Brandt. There was one particularly impressive before and after in which he’d managed to lift someone’s chin (that was almost hanging on their chest) back up to where it should be with just a few cleverly positioned shots of Botox. Sjoe!

But getting back to his products… his range consists of several lines that you can check out on his website. These include Flaws No More (for UV damage and uneven skin tone), Pores No More (for oily skin) and Dr. Brandt Housecalls, the stars of his line up that claim to mimic some of his in-office procedures. Think Microdermabrasion exfoliating face cream and Gwynnie’s Laser A-peel sytem.

Dr. Brandt also believes in looking after your bod from the inside out and has created a few yummy-tasting ‘detoxifying anti-oxidant water boosters’. I got to try the goji-maqui flavour, R495, which is supposed to be the equivalent of 15 cups of green tea, and rather liked it – if only because it didn’t contain any kilojoules, but could help make drinking boring old water more alluring.

Could definitely see Madge or Gwyn dropping this into their Evian...

Skin care-wise, I’ve opted to try the Microdermabrasion exfoliating face cream, R498, (it got good reviews on Makeupalley) and Pores No More pore refiner, R850, a silky-feeling mattifying primer. (Gwyneth claims it ‘shrinks the size of pores’, but there’s no product on the market that can do that. It can, however, temporarily minimise their appearance, so I’ll be keen to see just how well it can do that.)

Will let you what I think once they arrive and I’ve had time to give them a good test drive.

Love, love
