Shield’s new Clinical Protection cream deodorant review

Errrmigod! Shield’s PR peeps sent me a Swarovski crystal flash drive! *air punch* *happy hand claps* That’s one USB stick I sure aint’ gonna leave lying around in my car after I’m done using it to blare totes embarrassing musiek like that new Selena Gomez song that I just can’t get out my freakin’ head.

Bling bling
Bling bling

But ja, let’s leave my mooi new toy alone and chat about the other goodies it came with; Shield’s new Clinical Protection cream deodorants, specially formulated for those who suffer from ‘excessive sweating’.

What makes them a little different to other deos is that they’re ‘unapologetically strong’. So strong, in fact, that Shield reckons they can offer up to 48 hours of protection. That’s two days, people. Two freakin’ days! Other plus points? It forms a protective layer on your skin but allows it to breathe and doesn’t contain any alcohol which can ultimately dry out your skin while irritating sensitive underarms.

The cream formula's super blendy and disappears into your skin in a flash.
The cream formula’s super blendy and disappears into your skin in a flash.

Anyway, Shield says their new deo is best used at night. ‘At night, while the body is at rest, sweat glands are least active and skin is more receptive to Shield Clinical Protection’, they say. ‘This gives the formula time to work and build up a strong level of protection for the day ahead’. It’s then supposed to last throughout the day, even after a shower, and then throughout the following day sommer.

So, in the name of science, I slapped it on my underarms round 9pm and hit the sack. The next day I still smelled fresh but to be honest this is the norm. I’m not really a night sweats kinda girl. I then got into the shower and neglected to give my underarms a good scrub in fear of removing the formula. After getting out, I got dressed for the day but felt incredibly self-conscious of the fact that I hadn’t put on deodorant and might’ve washed off whatever I had on. ‘This is sooo isn’t going to work out’, I thought and popped a roll-on deo into my bag just in case I felt I needed to reach for it during the day.

Merrily, however, it did. By the time the sun had set, I hadn’t felt the need to reach for my back up deo and wasn’t standing around with my arms pinned to my side. I didn’t feel, however, confident enough to forge on to day nommer twee so I could sum it up by saying that yes, I was fresh enough, but I still prefer to be fabulously fresh, which is super easy to do if you apply Shield’s new deo’s every day. They’re definitely more potent and impressive than most on the shelf. I also like the way both of them smell; soft and clean. Neither is going to compete with your perfume.

Want to give them a bash yourself? They’re on the shelves as I type going for R69,99 a pop.

Love, love

  1. I’ve been using their new clinical protection product as well and it has worked for me. I have been suffering and stressed because I’ve been sweating like no man’s business and I’ve tried all these fancy expensive roll-on’s and I’d still sweat. Shield has helped me to regain my self confidence.

  2. This product is definitely working – no smells at all during the day. My only complaint is that the deodorant becomes hard in the holes – the result is pieces of hardened deodorant sticking under my arms.

  3. I absolutely love this product – no smells, and super dry all day long. I agree with Beatrice it gets hard in the holes but its something I can work around as long as it keeps me dry I am happy!
very expensive too but as long as it keeps working I will keep buying.
