If you’re a fan of Vichy, you’ll probably be aware or maybe even use the brand’s new-ish Liftactiv Serum 10. It’s riddled with rhamnose, a fruit sugar that’s been proven in vitro to tell naughty, misbehaving fibroblasts to kom reg and produce collagen like a good cell should.

Now, Vichy’s gone and launched this li’l darling:

The new eye serum, which is suitable for even sensitive skin, promises to instantly illuminate and lift your eye area while fortifying your lashes. Initially, I got super excited ‘cos I assumed it would help make lashes grow longer or increase their number but as it turns out, it only really conditions them. Still, this’ll help look after the lashes you’ve got which is always a good thing.

Lash lovin’ aside, I’ve been using it for a while now and have enjoyed its nice, light ‘gel-serum’ texture. As it’s very pearlescent, it immediately helps to illuminate your eye area but don’t worry, the effect is very subtle. You’re not going to look like you’ve smeared highlighter everywhere and it doesn’t get picked up if you’re photographed with a flash. I also liked that it at it glided on with ease, absorbed within seconds and, despite containing silicone, it didn’t make little bolletjies on my skin as other silicone-infused eye cream have done in the past.

As far as the lifting bit goes, this kicks in over time, thanks to collagen-boosting ingredients that include the aforementioned rhamnose as well as two different peptides that also have anti-inflammatory properties. Then you’ve got hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid and good old glycerine to give your skin an immediate moisture boost which will help plump in things up if your daily moisturiser hasn’t done so already.

Last but not last, Vichy gets two thumbs up for this product’s packaging, an opaque air tight pump bottle. This way, the ingredients aren’t going to lose their voomah due to oxidation or exposure to light. (Their Liftactiv serum is currently in a dropper bottle which lets in air and while it does look super sexy, I do which they’d gone the pump route here too.)
