Essence Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 2 make-up collection with swatches

Am I like the only girl in the whole bloody universe who hasn’t seen the Twilight movies? I just don’t understand the appeal of that miserable-looking girl and her difficult choice between Pale Face and Wolf Boy. I mean seriously girls, why aren’t there any hot zexy men in that flick? I don’t understand it. I mean, if she was torn between True Blood’s Alexander Skarsgard and Hugh Jackman in Wolverine I could like totally get it, but come now!

Anyway, all that aside, I know I’m in the minority here and that millions of you are going to lose your freakin’ minds over Essence’s new The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 make-up collection:

Two lip glosses, a very rooi blush, shimmer powder (so you can sparkle like Edward), two glitter liners, four nail polishes, four pigment powders and a gold lippie.

I got a few of the above goodies and got all swatchy swatchy:

From left to right: shimmer powder (Bella’s Secret), blush (Renesmee Red), slate pigment (Jacob’s Protection), silver pigment (A Piece of Forever), lip gloss (Renesmee Red), blue glitter liner (Jacob’s Protection).

My thoughts? The shimmer powder’s a nice quality for its price and quite versatile ‘cos you can also use it on your brow bone or in the inner corner of your eye. The red blush is also a goodie in regards to its pigmentation and ‘feel’ but the colour’s only for the brave.

The star of the show, however, is the slate-coloured pigment, Jacob’s Protection. Just a dab and BOOM! You’ve got great colour pay off. A Piece of Forever, on the other hand, is horrid. It feels like grit and barely shows up.

As for the red lip gloss, I reckon it’ll appeal to anyone looking for a non-sticky, sheer candy apple red gloss; just bear in mind it’s got fairly noticeable gold glitter in it and, because it’s non-sticky, it sides off super fast. Oh! And the glitter liner was a bit of a disappointment. I had to go over the line about six times (and painstakingly so) for it to show up.

So! Your best bets? Nab the fab shimmer powder if it’s not all gone already and grab the pigment in Dog Boy’s Jacob’s Protection. Then, while you’re at it, test the other two pigments to see if they’re hit or miss. As for the other items, I can’t make an informed comment but I do know that I’ve liked other Essence polishes in the past so they’re worth a look; for their super low price, you’re getting a pretty sweet deal.

Essence’s Twilight collection ranges between R29,99 and R39,95 and is in both Clicks and Dis-Chem as I type so run, run, run!

Love, love

Leigh

P.S. Who names their child Renesmee?! I mean COME ON!

  1. Yeah the name Renesmee killed me when I read the books, the problem with the films is that the casting was all wrong, they chose ugly people for each role so the story makes no sense, will never waste my time watching that drivel.

  2. Hahaha! I loved this post! yes, Renesmee is a stupid freaken name! But I’ve watched all the movies and have not been converted in to a Twi-Hard! Hooray! I worked with these products at the Canal Walk screening of Breaking Dawn last Thurs, and I agree. The shimmer powder is pretty nice and the red blush is gorgeous. You did not mention anything about the dark purple gloss though? The colour is beautiful when applied and does not make you look like death! lol

  3. Leigh don’t feel lonely I have not seen of the Twilight movies either and am not at all interested to see them either. Thanks for a great “blog” I love it!!!!
