YSL have a sexy new male scent on the shelves; L’Homme Libre.

Where the original L’Homme was woody and fruity, this new addition is fresh and aromatic making it a perfect every day scent for the active man in warm summer months. My boyfriend, however, is wearing it right now. He’s very much the ‘le jock so light fresh scents like Armani’s Acqua Di Gio and anything by Lacoste or with the word ‘SPORT’ on it tend to be his favourites.
Composition-wise, Libre’s made up of bergamot, nutmeg and pink pepper top notes. The heart is all about violet leaf, grand vert basil and star anise and rests on a base of patchouli, vetiver and leather. While it sounds ‘spicy’ it’s not. It’s very green, aquatic and clean-smelling making it the perfect scent for your man to douse himself in after a long, hard gym session.
The only thing my man didn’t like about the scent was the TV commercial.
He felt that the cologne would’ve best been represented by a sportsman and YSL has chosen Benjamin Millepied, the French star of the NYC ballet, choreographer of the film Black Swan. He also happens to be Natalie Portman’s hubby…

Personally, I quite like that they haven’t picked your typical Speedo-clad schmodel. While I adore a little ab-tastic eye candy, I think it’s refreshing that YSL’s used someone a little outside of the usual line of suspects.
Anyway, if you’re in store, give the scent a sniff. I can’t imagine anyone not liking it. And the bottle’s beyond gorgeous and feels fantastically heavy and luxurious in your hand.
Love, love
Leigh
