The other day I popped into the Mount Nelson for tea with Neutrogena.

This wasn’t just any old tea, however… the brand had arranged for the Nellie to serve up a special grapefruit flavoured tea to tie in with a particular product launch that I’ll be sure to tell you about closer to the time. Being suckers for a theme (as are all the best people in life…) they even ensured that the treats were grapefruit inspired:

After a yummy cuppa, we got the low down on the new edition to Neutrogena’s best selling Deep Clean range. As it is, it consists of the original Deep Clean facial cleanser and scrub that makes use of salicylic acid (BHA) to penetrate deep into your pores and clean them from the inside out. Then there’s the Deep Clean Invigorating range which is much the same but also include a dash o’ menthol to leave your face feeling tingly and fresh. Now, there are two new additions to line; Deep Clean Long-last Shine Control daily scrub (R75) and Deep Clean Long-last Shine Control cleanser/mask (R75). Naturally, they’re also flush with pore-blitzing BHA (and a dash o’ menthol) but also contain rice protein. This is supposed to create a microscopic ‘film’ on the surface of your skin and act like a sponge to help absorb excess oil.
The scrub is gentle enough to use every day so don’t rely on it to act as your only exfoliator, you’ll still need something more woes to use up to twice a week.

The cleanser/mask really does leave your pores feeling like they’ve had a good clean. They even look more refined after use!

Both products have a fresh, clean ‘watery’ scent and manage to take off all my make-up including mascara. In regards to the oil control, they promise to keep you shine-free for up to eight hours. I didn’t really notice any oil-reducing effects after using the scrub, but on days when I used the cleanser/mask as a mask, it did take a little longer for the oilies to pop up on my face. Then, once they’d arrived, I’d have to reach for my MAC Blot powder every few hours or so to keep them under control, as per usual.
In all, I liked both of these guys and am sure you will too, but they’re yet to beat my favourite fash wash in the world which just so happens to be another Neutrogena goodie; their Visibly Clear Pink Grapefruit facial wash. It also contains spot-busting ingredients but has the most delicious, bliss-inducing scent that makes using it a regte sensory treat. Oooh and speaking of treat… upon leaving the tea, us ‘beauties’ all walked away with a sweet little gift:

Thanks Neutrogena, you guys have always been a firm favourite of mine, but now I think you’re twice as rice nice…
Mwah,
Leigh
