Lancome Rouge in Love nail polish and lipstick review with swatches

If you’re a Lancôme fan like I am, you’re going to ADORE the brand’s gorgeous new nail and lipstick collection, Vernis and Rouge in Love.

Love how Emma Watson's injected a fresh, youthful energy into the brand... and that she's finally growing out that horrid super-short hair cut!

Both the nail and lippie shades have been divvied up into three groups; Jolis Matins (fresh and light for daytime), Boudoir Time (bright, ‘cocktail’ colours) and Tonight is My Night (intense, sexy ‘look at me’ hues). The nail polish collection is particularly awesome and consists of a whopping 24 colours:

These range from pretty pastels all the way through to sexy slate and black as well as the odd pop of trendy teal.

What makes them truly fab, however, is their patented groove-stemmed brushes with long round-tipped bases. This makes the polish so ridiculously easy to apply that even a klutz like me can create a perfect-looking mani in five minutes flat. The formula’s also super resistant so they won’t chip for days on end and contains ‘micro-mirrors’ to ensure a dazzling shiny finish with or without a top coat!

I was given this little darling to play with, Rouge Reglisse, a deep sexy black cherry that remind me a lot of Chanel’s infamous Rouge Noir and Revlon’s Vixen.
Check it out:

This is after a mere two slicks and with no top coat! Look at that baby gleam!

Now get a load of the lippies…

This is just a few of them; there are 24 in total.

I was lucky to be given a shade from each group and made a few swatches for you:

As above, but with flash:

Look at 'em glow!

When you first roll the lipsticks out the tube (which feels nice nad heavy in your hand, adding to the overall luxuriousness of the product!), they looks incredibly ‘matte’, but the moment they meet your mouth they shows off  they show off their true slightly-shimmery colours. I liked that they felt feather light on your lips and had a lustrous-looking finish, but none of the shades lived up to their promise of hanging around for six hours. I definitely had to reapply throughout the day, but didn’t mind in the least. Pulling such a pretty little tube out of your handbag feels so indulgent and I adore that each has a soft rosy scent, somehow this adds to their sense of luxuriousness.

Ooh la la, bietse!

Another bonus? Each lippie is enriched with ‘nourishing and repairing oils’ (Lancôme doesn’t specify which) and you can definitely feel them in that they feel more hydrating than other lippies.

Violette Cocquette is my fave out of the three I got to try.

They hit Lancôme counters sometime last month and a lippie will set you back R250 while the polish is R175 a pop. Pricey, but undeniably indulgent…

(Rouge in) love, love

Leigh
