This week I got to play with Rimmel’s new Scandal’eyes mascara, R89,95. It’s the second Rimmel mascara I’ve trialled in the last little while; just the other day I reviewed their 2-wands-in-one Glam’Eyes which you can read all about over here.

First impressions? The bright orange tube isn’t the chicest in that it reminds me of office stationary.

Still, it’s easy to let that slide; Maybelline Great Lash is one of the world’s best sellers and their tacky yet iconic pink and green packaging hasn’t set them back in the least.
Now take a look at this brush comparison shot, I want you to see just how big it really is when you hold it up against another less colossal-looking volumising mascara wand:

In regards to promises, Scandal’eyes makes use of 3 times more collagen and keratin than their other mascaras to help you pump up the volume. I can’t find an ingredients list anywhere, but I’m going to assume these two have been hydrolized, making the molecules small enough to penetrate your lashes. If not, the collagen would work topically regardless, but as a conditioning agent and to help prevent your lashes from clumping up.

Anyway, I’ve been using Scandal’eyes for two days and, after adjusting to the brush which was initially a bit awkward to use, I rather like it. It’s gotten a fair amount of negative reviews online in regards to how awkward the big-ass brush is and I can understand that; I did end up getting quite a bit of it on my brow bone and surrounds in the beginning. Still, once you get it used to it’s not really an issue. I liked that it added volume, but wasn’t disgustingly clumpy. In fact, it actually defined my lashes quite nicely, so the look was ultimately full yet neat and clean, if you get what I’m saying.
In all, this is a nice mascara, but by no means Rimmel’s best. I definitely prefer Glam’Eyes over this new addition, but hey, that’s just my opinion. Now tell me, have YOU used Scandal’Eyes? If so, what you think? Also, of all the Rimmel mascaras you’ve tried, which is your favourite?
Love, love

I’m not a huge Rimmel mascara fan but I do like their Wow mascara. Its in a black tube with a picture of the British flag on it. I got it from my sister because she didn’t like it but I think its a nice everyday mascara and it creates a very similar look to what you got using the Scandal one.
Ja, I’ve tried that one too. It’s called ‘Extra WOW Lash’ and while it is nice enough, it also promises to be seriously volumising and doesn’t really live up to that. Still, if you want to just want to ‘colour’ your lashes and run out the door, it’s a safe bet. 😉
