Last week darling Lizzy from Freebees PR sent me an LCN lip gloss to review. (For those of you who don’t know, LCN is a German brand that mostly specialises in nail products.)
This is LCN’s lip gloss in Golden Rosewood. It retails for R140 and can be found in selected salons across the country:

…and without…

Golden Rosewood is a difficult shade to describe. Its kinda like mauve, golden brown and a teensy tiny dash o’ brick got together and made a baby:

The above shot doesn’t really show off the ‘brick’ element, but you’ll notice it straight away with a flash:

And here it is on my lips:

…and with flash:

I haven’t included my face in my piccies as Golden Rosewood doesn’t actually suit me and I didn’t want that to influence how you viewed it. It’s the kind of shade that would look best on duskier skin tones or anyone who’s flattered by plum, mauve, brown and brick.
Texture-wise, LCN’s gloss isn’t sticky in the least which makes it the kind of thing my Aunt Rosie would appreciate; she adores gloss just as much as I do but despises the super-sticky ones I tend to prefer. She always goes ‘Oooh, I love that colour on you… could I wear something like that?’ She’ll then proceed to smoosh her fingers against my lips and shriek ‘GOD, that’s HORRIBLE! How can you wear something so STICKY?! I thought my finger was going to be stuck there FOREVER…’
The fact that LCN’s gloss isn’t as tacky as my usual glosses of choice means it doesn’t stick around too long, so don’t think you can slick this baby on, eat a pie and get away with it… It did, however, semi-survive my afternoon snack; two Ryvitas and cream cheese. Another thing I should mention? It doesn’t have any discernable flavour or scent. Some might think that boring, but I have many friends who consider consider it the holy frikken grail for that alone.
If you want to give LCN’s gloss a bash call them on 087 751 0410 to find your nearest stockist. They also have a website where you can take a look at more of their products, but bear in mind that this is more focused towards would-be suppliers as opposed to peeps like you and me. Oh! And they have a Facebook page too…
Love, love
