A while back, when I got to experience a Shellac mani, I was given a little bottle of Creative Nail Design Solar Oil, R45 for 3,7ml, to help take care of it. Unlike many other manicures, Shellac allows your nail to breath as its got loads of microscopic li’l holletjies in it. This is why you’re encouraged to use Solar oil with it; ‘cos it penetrates down to the nail bed and keeps your nail nice and moist.

Anyway, my Shellac mani is long gone, but I’m still using award-winning Solar oil, a super-moisturising mix of deep-penetrating jojoba oil, sweet almond oil and vitamin E. I keep it next to my bed and rub it into my cuticles and nail beds every single night. I love the way it smells (like sugared almonds) and that it sinks into my dry, wintery nails in a flash without leaving any kind of greasy residue. Afterwards, my cuticles are supple and easy to push back.
If you’ve been looking for a good nail and cuticle moisturiser, you won’t go wrong with Solar Oil. And the girl’s on Makeupalley.com agree, rating it an awesome 4,3 out of 5. (FYI, the girls on MUA are diehard cosmetic freaks and all know their shizz. I personally don’t like to buy a product unless it’s got a rating any lower than 3,7.)

Where would you buy solar oil in Cape Town? I’ve never seen/ heard of it before. Thanks 😀
Hi Dominique! You could get it from any salon that stocks CND products. I reckon hit them up on Facebook to find one that’s closest to you: https://www.facebook.com/CNDSouthAfrica
