Review: Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Colour Moisturising matte lipstick

If you adore Arden’s Beautiful Colour Moisturising lippies (and you should, ‘cos they’re divine, especially Red Door Red and Electric Pink), you’ll be interested in their new matte additions (R220) to the line up.

I do love me a lippie in a gold tube.
The tube is a gold version of Arden’s infamous red door, if you hadn’t noticed.

Each of the eight new shades is just as hydrating and lip lovin’ as the other more satiny-textured hues, but their finish is a sophisticated velvety-looking matte.

I love that, despite being ‘matte’, your lips don’t look ‘flat’ or dry. In fact, they feel hydrated and plump thanks to pigments cocooned in a ‘moisture sphere’ made up of natural butters like mango, Shea and Murumuru. Then there’s something called Maxi Lip in the mix, a peptide that, according to the company that makes it, helps plump up lips instantly while encouraging more collagen production over time. Oh! And let’s not forget about antioxidant vitamin E and moisturising Argan Oil!

In short, Arden’s new lippies feel like an ultra indulgent balm, but look like the most flattering matte lip colour money can buy and, if you try them, you will want, want, want.

My favourites of the lot? Raspberry, a lovely blue-toned berry hue that’s more magenta than purple so it’s going to get a lot of airtime on my lips this winter.

I also like Bold Red that, despite its name, is actually a ‘subdued’ red that speaks authoritatively as opposed to shouts, making it great to wear in the day.

Last but not least, there’s Rose Petal, a ‘your lips but better’ nude kind of hue with just enough pink in it to not wash out pale peeps like myself.

Rose Petal (If I look high in this pic it's 'cos I am. Tension headache funsies!)

Love, love
