Elizabeth Arden Sponge-on Cream foundation review

Elizabeth Arden have just launched a new foundation compact, Flawless Finish Sponge-On Cream Makeup, R295.

How fabulously elegant-looking is the compact? I love that it’s got a mirror. It also includes a square sponge, but I tossed this in favour of one of my own super soft oval-shaped sponges which made it much easier to work with.

Formula-wise, the new foundation promises to hydrate and offer radiance-boosting coverage thanks to the infusion of micronized diamond powder and soft focus microspheres. These bounce the light off your face to blur the look of fine lines and pores.

I’m generally wary of sponge-on cream foundations as they’re all about full coverage and I typically prefer something a little more sheer-looking. To it’s credit though, Flawless Finish’s coverage, when applied with a damp sponge to sheer it out, didn’t feel too heavy, thick or masky in the least. In fact, my skin looked radiant and, dare I say it, even dewy.

After application, I only needed a bit of concealer under my eyes and a little bit of blotting powder in my T-section and I was all set. I also liked that the look lasted all day and didn’t come off on my collar or smear all over the side of my cell phone.

Keen to try it? Look out for Flawless Finish Sponge-On Cream Makeup at your local Elizabeth Arden counter. It’s available in 14 shades including 8 for colours for ethnic skintones. Nice!

Love, love

  1. Hi Leigh,
I LOVE a full coverage foundation but am wary of them caking on my dry dehydrated skin – did you find that it caked anywhere at all? I am desperately looking for a replacement after Rimmel discontinued my oh so loved foundation – again:(

    thanks x

    1. Oooh gosh. It didn’t cake on me but it is rather thick. I don’t think it would work for very dry skin as it’ll highlight skin flakes etc. Perhaps consider a full coverage hydrating liquid. Their anti aging foundation that comes in a pot would probably be a better fit for you.
