When it comes to sexy night time scents I’m only partial to three on the shelf: Tom Ford Black Orchid Voile de Fleur (‘Let’s go get it on in the bathroom’); Thierry Mugler Alien Sunessence (‘I’m a classy, slightly eccentric girl with expense taste, get your hands off me , you cretin’) and Narciso Rodriguez for her (‘Romance! Romance! Romance!).
As far as I’m concerned, fragrances just don’t get more feminine and romantic than Narciso Rodriguez, an uber musky white floral. While the juice contains an array of notes, all I really get is a drop of orange flower and loads of sexy, skin lovin’ musk. I love that it’s the kind of elegant, timeless fragrance I can wear now while I’m young as well as when I’m wrinkly, old and hopefully not too vile looking.
Another thing I like about Narciso Rodriguez For Her? It’s strong. If you’re wearing it, people are going to know about it and you’re still going to smell it on your clothes the next day.
Still, not everyone likes a statement making fragrance. (I’m loath to use the word ‘overpowering’ in regards to this scent because, despite being potent, it’s not in your face. It tickles and seduces your nose as opposed to gets up in your grill.) You can’t really wear it on a hot summer’s day; Narciso’s best left to night time.
Fortunately, this is where the new scent comes in; Narciso Rodriguez L’Eau for Her.

Narciso Rodriguez L’Eau For Her is still the Narciso you know and love but features new notes that include lily of the valley and rose. It’s also been ‘toned down’ to become a soft, gentle wisp of a thing. While it still, tickles and seduces, you have to hold it close to your nose to let it work its magic. It’s not going to leave a trail as you waltz through the office; it keeps close to your skin like a soft, luxurious cashmere pullover.
If you’re a fan of the original but have ever wished for a lighter version – or love soft, musky florals – you have to sniff this scent. And when you do, please tell me what you think in the comments section. I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Love, love
Leigh
Narciso Rodriguez L’Eau For Her is available in three sizes; 30mls for R515 (reasonable, right?), 50mls for R730 (slap it on your account) and 100ml for R1 050 (you know he loves you lots). The fragrance is exclusive to Edgars and Red Square and will be in store as of this month.
Haha – “slap it on your account” 🙂
Oh yeah!
Hey Leigh!
Please forgive me for chiming in here with an unrelated question.
Leigh, I really battle to find skin products that actually improve my skin – Le Sigh! At the moment all my skin products are finished (I last used Clinique) I do not want to buy Clinique again. So right now I’m using Aqueous Cream as moisturizer – oh the horror! I have a bit of a dry skin with a slightly oily T-zone and have sensitive cheeks (broken capillaries) Would you please be so kind as to tell me what skin products I should buy or use. What do you use, Leigh? I would appreciate your help immensely.
Much Love,
Candice
Hi Candice
I’m no beauty therapist but I can tell you this much; don’t invest in a brand system, rather look out for the right ingredients. If you have combination/sensitive skin take a look at Bioderma’s Sensibio moisturisers. It’s specially formulated for sensitive skin and can combat redness. While this will hydrate, you’ll still need treatment products but these will vary depending on the changes you want to make in your skin.
What is your focus? Do you want to bust wrinkles or sort out pigmentation? The issue you’re dealing with will then relegate which ingredients you need to get hold of. I.e. retinol for wrinkles or the softer version, retinyl palmitate, if your skin is sensitive/reactive. If you’re battling with pigmentation, you’re going to need a serum or night cream with skin tone evening ingredients like vitamin C.
I know it sounds intense, but you might want to consider visiting a dermatologist who can assess your goals and suggest the right products. (They’ll all be v unglam – i.e. nothing Lauder or Clinique make – but they’ll be effective.) I’d never dream of visiting a beauty counter or salon for skin care advice as 99% of them will steer you towards using their own brands and sucker you into buying a huge system which’ll include a toner and eye cream which, in my opinion, most women don’t really need.
Hope this helps!
Leigh x
P.S. My favourite drugstore range is Neutrogena. They do a great basic moisturiser with an SPF of 15 (wearing a daily sunscreen is beyond NB) and a decent retinol serum. With just those two products in your artillery you’re already steps ahead of most.
