Nails Inc hits South Africa and is available at selected Edgars stores

Yes, yes… I’m aware of how boring my headline is but the call of SEO is sometimes just too strong. And I’m quite convinced everyone’s going to want to know all about Nails Inc and where they can find it in SA once they learn more about it.

For those who aren’t familiar with it, Nails Inc is an uber cool British nail brand that’s very trend focused. If there’s a hot new way to do your nails, Nails Inc is going to have products to help you pull it off. Think concrete-effect nails, feather-effect and leather-effect which I’ll actually show you in a bit. Celeb fans of the brand include Lady Gaga, Britney, Adele, Victoria Beckham and Beyonce.

Beyonce was spotted wearing Baker Street, a vibrant blue shade after the birth of her daughter, Blue Ivy.

Anyway, I was given the Bling It On Leather and Skulls kit (R250) in Soho Mews (tan leather) to play with:

It includes a leather effect polish, nail glue, mani stick and four mini skull decals to stick on your thumbs.

The leather effect polish goes on like regular polish but, when it starts to dry, it takes on a leathery-effect.

Forgive my messy paint job, I was in a rush.

The polish comes in two other colour options; Shoreditch Lane (mulberry red) and Noho (black) and cost R120 if sold separately sans skulls. Alexa Chung was spotted wearing Noho at the British Fashion Awards causing it to sell out within seconds.

Initially, I was a little bleak to have been given the tan shade as I thought black would be the coolest-looking of the bunch, but I’m now actually quite glad. Wearing ‘leather’ in a nude hue kind of helps to class things up a little. If I’d spent a day running around in black leather and skulls I’d probably have ended up feeling a bit like ‘bad ass Sandy’ in Grease.

If you’re a regular reader, you’ll know I pretty much despite nail art but I have to admit I kind of enjoyed my skullsy li’l weekend. Tweens and till cashiers alike where most impressed with my skulls (‘Jinnnnnne Valencia! Kyk vir hierdie!’) and their staying power was tres impressive. I kept looking down at my thumbs expecting to have lost a skull but that nail glue’s super sterk and held them vas.

I was also given two of the brand’s bestsellers; their Kensington Caviar base and top coats (R125 each):

While the base coat’s as good as any, I really like the top coat. It really is touch-dry within 45 seconds (I timed it, I’m that anal) and has a nice high gloss finish.

Keep an eye out for Nails Inc in selected Edgars and Red Square stores across SA. At first, they’ll only be available at a few of them, but the plan is to expand into more as the year rolls out.

Love, love

Leigh
