Batiste dry shampoo XXL Volume Boost review

So let’s just lay it out there; I’m obsessed with Batiste dry shampoo. Obsessed! I always have a mini can in my bag and a stockpile of the big boys in my bathroom cabinet. For a girl with super fine hair that needs washing once a day, it’s a freakin’ lifesaver. In fact, I don’t even use it when my hair’s greasy… I use it ALL. THE. TIME. Seriously girls. I flippin’ spritz it in my hair almost every single day ‘cos I love how it lifts up the roots and gives my hair more big, sexy body.

Other dry shampoos? Meh. I’ve tried variants from both TRESemme and Lee Stafford and found they weren’t a patch as good as Batiste. Batiste is the business.

Anyway, Batiste now have a new dry shampoo on the shelf; XXL Volume, R69,99.

Love this!
‘Cos big is beautiful bietse!

I didn’t luuuurve it at first but that’s ‘cos I wasn’t using it properly. I kept on spritzing on too much of it and, as it’s a zillion times more ‘intense’ than regular Batiste I’d end up getting too much of it on my hair and it kind of looked like I’d emptied a can of baby powder on my head. Or had a serious dandruff issue. Nasty. But! Once I’d gotten used to the fact that just one teensy little spritz is all you need and learned to hold the can much further away than what I’d do with regular Batiste, XXL Volume and I became besties. I really like that, as you only need to use so little, you get way more bang for your buck.

Anyway, if any of you have tried another brand of dried shampoo, hated it and dismissed it as a klomp kak, please give Batiste a bash. It’s the shizz and if they ever stop selling it in South Africa I’m going to catch a fit. (And I used to be epileptic so you really don’t want to see that.)

Love, love

Leigh

P.S. My raven-haired flat mate’s been using Batiste for darker hair. It’s pretty much the same thing as regular Batiste but looks like cocoa powder so it doesn’t show up as ‘grey’ in your hair. If you’ve got darker hair, I’d recommend you try this variant or stick to regular ‘white’ Batiste if it’s working for you. XXL Volume, if used incorrectly, can be a one way ticket to grey hairsville if you don’t use it correctly.

  1. Hahahaha! I love your blog! So entertaining. I’ve tried the same ones you have, and LEe Stafford is shocking. Feel like I’m actually doing more damage trying to get the white/grey out by “rubbing vigorously”. Great to see what I’d look like with grey roots, though, but that’s it. Is the Batiste for darker hair available here (SA)? I haven’t seen it at any of the Clicks stores I go to.

Thanks again for the little bit of escapism everyday. 🙂

    1. Ag dankie man. Ja, I felt like Lee Stafford just made my hair ‘wetter’ and ‘limper’. So unimpressed. The darker Batiste is definitely here in SA, I’ve spotted it on the shelves at Clicks. It’s hard to find though ‘cos there are so many different versions (scents) of the regular ones available and just a few cans of that in comparison so it sells out in a flash. If you try it and like it, buy three cans every time you see it.

  2. I have very thick hair, but it gets greasy quicly (especially as I have a full fringe), and I’ve been loving TREsemme, but will definitely be giving the Batiste for brunettes a try. How is the smell? I love Tresemme’s smell, and I find that the scent helps with post-long-night out-drinking-and-people-smoking-over-you hair.

    1. If you like TRESemme you’ll love Batiste. The scent for the brunette one is a subtle fresh floral. All Batiste scents are nice though. My favourite keeps changing all the time.

  3. I’ve used both Batiste, the normal one and the one for darker hair. I think the regular one works better for some reason. The one for darker hair doesn’t seem to have as much va-va-voom. I just have to use less of it so I don’t have that “grey” mist over my head.

  4. I’ve also started using Batiste for medium brunettes, and I love it so much! Thanks for the review on the volume one, I’ve been considering trying it out as my hair is really fine and tends to be a bit limp on the second day 😛

    1. It’s fab, but you might hate it the first few times you use it. Once you get the hang of it tho – spraying v little and far away – you’ll prob love it like I do.

  5. Where can you buy basiste in south africa? I absolutely love it but I bought mine in the UK and i’m going to be running out very shortly. Please Help or my life might just end!

  6. I love Batiste dry shampoo’s usually but the XXL volume makes my hair look terrible, stiff and barely-brushable. Thanks for the heads up re: using less as I was about to toss it in the bin.
