The sweet peeps at Original Cocktails sent myself, Clouds and Karisa a nice selection of their ready mixed cocktails in a box. (We were quick to coin the term ‘boxtails’.) They also gave us a few individual cocktail sachets (sold in boxes of six) so we kind of threw everything together to host a little cocktail party.

..

Our cocktail collection included the following; Pina Colada, Mojito, Singapore Sling, Strawberry Daiquiri, Cosmopolitan and Margarita. These are all available to purchase in 2 litre boxes (R70 a pop) and can also be bought in packs that include six individual sachets. This is especially cool if you’re keen on Pina Coladas, Margaritas or Daiquiris ‘cos these can be popped in your freezer and served frozen.
It was kind of awesome that we had a crowd over to taste test because everyone had a different favourite. My flat mate Kim is now addicted to the Singapore Sling, a mix of real lime, pineapple and orange juices blended with cherry, bitters and gin, which she considers ‘a very dangerous cooldrink’.

As for me, I was most impressed by the frozen Margarita. It was a little sweet, a little sour and nice and fabulously refreshing on a hot summer’s night. The Cosmo was good too but leaned a bit to the sweet side and this got a bit much towards the end. The only one I actually didn’t like was the Pina Colada. To me it tasted kind of plasticky but, interestingly, it was Elrico’s favourite. He genuinely couldn’t understand why I didn’t like it and ended up devouring every sachet we had.

If you’re planning a casual bash or braai over the festive season, Original Ice’s cocktails are a great wallet-friendly party starter. I also like that they’re super easy to travel with so you could take them to a booze-friendly beach or picnic area with ease.

Thanks a mil Original Cocktails; I’ll definitely be buying more of your frozen Margaritas.

P.S. What with being a cocktail party and all, it felt like an ’80’s hot pink’ kind of night so I decided to wear this boy:

Sinful Colours is a new nail polish range that’s as cheap as chips and exclusive to Clicks. There formula’s are a bit hit and miss in that some are streaky and kak and others (like Daredevil) are awesome. And at a mere R28 a pop, it’s totally worth the gamble, don’t you think?
How funny I was actually trying desperately trying to find the frozen Margarita ones for a tacos evening I had last night. Alas to no avail…we had to stick to plain Tequila.
They’re really lovely! Like lemon and line flavored slush puppies with an evil li’l kick. Hope you get to try them soon.
