Bourjois have a brand new foundation on the shelves; Bourjois Paris 123 Perfect, R179,95.

It’s formula includes a blend of three colour correcting pigments; green to mimimise the appearance of redness, yellow to hide dark circles and mauve to illuminate your skin. These pigments are ‘micronized’ so they aren’t visible to the naked eye, but they work together to subtly correct your complexion.
I was give shade number 52 (Vanilla) to try. It was a teensy bit lighter than what I’d have chosen myself (I’m a 53 when it comes to Bourjois) but it still looked good on. I liked how it evened out my complexion and had a light, ‘velvety’ feel that reminded me of a much more refined version of Maybelline’s Dream Matte Mousse. The formula seemed to ‘float’ gently on my skin and didn’t settle into fine lines. Also, thanks to mattifying cotton flower extract, I didn’t have to reach for my MAC Blot powder as often as I’m used to.
Regarding the colour-correcting aspect; it was hard to tell if the pigments or simply the coverage that foundation offers was evening out/correcting my skin, but either way it managed to disguise a bit of redness around my nose. (I’ve got one of those super fun summer colds at the moment and have been spreadin’ it around town like a regte carrier monkey. If you spot me out over the weekend, think twice before we air kiss…)
Over all, this is a lovely foundation but, Bourjois-wise, my heart still belongs to their gorgeous complexion illuminating Healthy Mix Serum foundation. Still, on wintery days when I want a slightly more matte-looking, velvet-y complexion, I’m quite happy to slap this baby on.
Want to check it out yourself? You’ll find it in both Edgars and Red Square.

Thanks for the review. I have been searching for two weeks for one. Didn’t wanna spend money unnecessarily until I had an honest opinion. I have used the health mix foundation and loved it so I am happy to try this as well. Chanel owns bourjois and they launched their perefection lumière. and now bourjois. has 123 perfect foundation. Thats how they normally do it. So u don’t need to shell out R450 on Chanel when I can get it for R179.
Ja, I know. Same story with Lancome owning L’Oreal… Still, even though L’oreal goodies use much of the same tech and formulations that Lancome does, I can still tell the difference between the more luxurious smelling/feeling/looking expensive items and the drug store items. But only just… 😉
