TRESemme Moisture Rich and Thermal Recovery shampoo and conditioner review

The other day TRESemme totally spoiled me with a few of their bestselling hair care goodies:

Guess who's never buying sham or con again for the rest of her life...

Of the three shampoo and conditioner variants they sent me; Moisture Rich, Thermal Recovery and Colour Revitalising, I decided to give the first two a bash. While I do colour my hair, I’ve never really worried about it fading because I ‘bleach’ it with highlights as opposed to use a dye that deposits colour. Thus my peroxide-battered hair does need a little TLC in the moisture/hair repair department. To make matters worse, I also give it a regular bashing with my curling iron, so anything offering thermal protection is a friend of mine too…

Anyway, after a quick look at the ingredients, I soon realised that the Moisture Rich and Thermal Recovery conditioner contained pretty much the exact same stuff. In fact, the only real difference is that the thermal variant has a greater concentration of silicone and includes sweet almond oil and aloe extract. (FYI, silicone is useful in anything offering to protect your hair from heat damage in that it wraps around your hair like a shield.) Both shampoos make use of vitamin E and B3 as well as biotin, the latter of which is great for helping to strengthen your locks.

Having used them both, I definitely prefer the Thermal Recovery set.

A 500ml bottle of TRESemme sham or con is R43,99. That's crazy good value...

I see this range as giving me all the hydration of the Moisture Rich sham and con, but with the added benefits of nourishing sweet almond oil and soothing aloe. Also, due to the extra silicone, my hair’s much easier to detangle and brush out while wet. I can totally understand why it’s getting such rave reviews on Makeupalley.com; a killer 4,2 out of 5!

I also liked that both sets of shampoo and conditioner left my hair feeling clean and soft, but didn’t weigh it down. This is important because my hair’s super fine yet in need of ‘repair’, so I’m constantly walking the fine line between giving it just enough nourishment and turning it into an oil slick o’ death.

In all, if you’ve got slightly dry hair that needs a bit of lovin’ or stress your locks out with regular heat exposure, TRESemme’s Thermal Recovery duo is a good bet. However, if your hair’s VERY coarse and dry, prone to le frizzies or fried to shizzness due to heat or colour damage, you’re probably going to need something a little more intensive.

Anyway, the Thermal Recovery goodies, this shampoo, that wasn’t the only TRESemme goodie I liked, I was also super impressed with the brands’ dry shampoo, but I’ll chat about that in another blog post.

Thanks TRESemme, I’m a fan!

Love, love

Leigh

  1. Babe, you had an anti fizz post up about a month ago. It was an Aus product (I think), to 1. De-frizz and 2. Remove all colour. What was it. Pink box.
