Merry merry julle!

My boyfriend’s mom was kind enough to book us all into the Caledon Hotel & Spa for Christmas. If you follow me on Twitter, you’ll know I said I’d write you a report as to what it’s like, but I have to be honest, there’s not much of a spa to write about. 

To give you an idea, the spa reception is in the same room as a ‘tuck shop’ type thing! Last time I was there, I had to endure sandy, snot-nosed children screaming for their morbidly obsese kortbroek-wearing mothers to buy them cupcakes. (This pretty much sums up the hotel’s clientele in general…) These bloody kids also run up and down the halls in the early hours of the morning – think 5:30am – SHRIEKING and BANGING on doors.  

Love that.

I also want to MURDER one of the spa’s receptionists.

I’d booked two treatments for Mike’s folks the week before, using my credit card over the phone and wanted to pick up the gift vouchers that I was told would be waiting for me. But comprehending this all was just totalllly beyond her. We also had a convo that ran like this:

Me: My boyfriend’s mom is just outside the door and these gift vouchers are a surprise. If she comes in, I’m going to change the subject immediately as I don’t want her to realise what I’m doing. Okay?

Dof chick: Oooer. Okaai…

Me: So, about those vouchers…

At this point Mike and his mom walk in…

Me: (eek!) So, ja, what were you saying about that pedi?

Dof chick: Huh?! But I thought you wanted me to try and find those GIFT VOUCHERS for you? Don’t you want those GIFT VOUCHERS? What about the GIFT VOUCHERS… 

Thankfully, I could throw M a look a la desperasie and he managed to ruk his mom out the room. (Not in time, I’m sure…)

Me: Right, so remember how I told you that if I switched topic mid convo it would be ‘cos his mom had walked in?

Chick: Jaaaa?

Me: So, that was me doing that…

Dof chick: Oerr..

Arrrrgh!!!

On the upside, I’ve been invited to check out the newly revamped Equinox Life spa at the swish Cape Royale Hotel back in Cape Town. I’ve spent a night at the Cape Royale before  – it’s sexy, chic and the service is top notch – so this is something I’m really looking forward to.
