Beauty bits and pieces: Morgan Taylor’s Street Beat summer collection, INOAR Flowers shampoo and conditioner and Essence Like A First Day in Spring EDT

Right! Are you ready to get stuck in?

First up, Morgan Taylor have launched a hot new nail colour line up for summer in the form of Street Beat. I was given three of the six shades available and they’re awesome.

From left to right: B-Girl Style, Hip Hot Coral and Give Me A Break-Dance.

Hip Hot Coral needs a good three coats to get it going but it’s a killer ‘on your toes when you’ve got a tan’ shade for a summer holiday at the beach. The other two are two-coaters. I also found that they’re less prone to chipping.

To view the full collection get clicky here. You’ll find each shade in salons that stock Morgan Taylor (Sorbet is the most accessible) going for R123 a pop.

Moving on, let’s chat INOAR. The Brazilian hair care brand sent me their Flowers shampoo and conditioner (R245 each) and I love it. They’re made using antioxidant cherry blossoms but, to my nose, they have a sweet, yummy ‘candy’ scent that reminds me of a strawberry daiquiri.

I looooove the way these smell!
I looooove the way these two smell!

Formulated for ‘normal’ hair that’s been colour-treated but not damaged, they suited my fine, highlighted tresses to a tee – adding moisture without weighing it down. While INOAR does make sulphate-free products that are great for those with a Brazilian blow out, this duo isn’t one of them. It is, however, free of sodium chloride (salt), so it’s less likely to strip out your hair’s colour.

Want, want, want? You can buy INOAR products online or via selected salons. Use the contact details you’ll find on the site to get hold of someone who can point you towards one in your area.

Lastly, to celebrate the arrival of a new season, Essence sent me a bottle of their Like A First Day in Spring EDT (R114, Clicks and Dis-Chem).

Pretty, pretty!
Pretty, pretty!

A young, fresh, citrusy floral, its notes include pineapple, orange and tangerine, rose, blackberry, praline, musk, sandalwood and vanilla. The overall effect is a sparkly, light and uplifting scent that makes me think of a dew-covered green garden that’s warmed by the sweetness of sunny fruit. In a way, it reminds me of a lot of fresh, fruity spritz-it-on-and-go Escada fragrance. If you’re looking for a pretty, pocket-friendly perfume that doesn’t smell cheap, this is a nice pick.

Love, love

Leigh
