I love Soil goodies. I dig that they’re certified organic and make use of top quality aromatherapy oils but have mod, sexy-looking packaging. They’re also proudly South African and source their ingredients locally to provide an income for communities in need. As it is, I’ve just finished a bottle of their Balancing Baobab bath oil. It’s got the most addictive rose geranium and sandalwood scent that somehow reminds me of Zoo biscuits!
Anyway, you can imagine I was thrilled to be sent a few of their goodies including one of their new boxed gift sets in Uplifting Coconut:
The set (available in both variants) costs R215 and contains a 300ml body lotion and body wash. Individualy, the lotion costs R125 while the body was is R110.
While I’ve come to the conclusion that I still prefer the Balancing Baobab scent, Uplifting Coconut’s pretty awesome thanks to the inclusion of zesty lemongrass and uplifting grapefruit. This makes it smell fresh, light and invigorating as opposed to plain old coconutty.
Of the two products, I like the body lotion best. It’s an antioxidant-rich mix of Mozambican coconut oil, Shea butter, cocoa butter and avocado oil. Despite being uber-nourishing, it sinks into skin super-quickly so you can pull your clothes on in a flash. I’ve been using it on chilly winter mornings and like how its fresh-smelling essential oils help zap any ‘grey day’ doldrums.
The best of the bunch, however, was the matching Uplifting soy wax candle, R220:
In this circumstance, I much prefer the Uplifting Coconut scent to the Baobab one. It doesn’t make use of any coconut, just grapefruit, lemongrass and peppermint and makes my entire bedroom smell fresh, clean and spa-like. I wish to God I’d discovered it before shelling out for another citrus-infused candle from another very expensive brand. While Soil’s version is very similar, it costs less than half the price of the other candle and offers up to 50 hours of burn time!
Soil’s fabulous candles are deffo going on my list of Things I Like to Give as Gifts (along with the Twista Chopper and boxes of Toffifee). I can’t imagine anyone not falling in love with it.
Love, love
Leigh
