The Body Shop Nutriganics Drops of Youth review

The Body Shop’s certified organic skin care line, Nutriganics, has just brought out a fab little serum; Nutriganics Drops of Youth, R195.

It comes in cute li’l ‘glass jar and dropper’ packaging and promises to help ‘resurface’ your skin while adding an extra dose of hydration.

Ingredients-wise, you’re getting your moisture from very good humectants like glycerin, hyaluronic acid and fair trade Brazilian Babassu oil.

It also makes use of something called Chondrus Crispus powder. In the ingredients list it’s listed as an ‘abrasive’. I wasn’t too sure what they meant by that. I mean, does it exfoliate? A quick google, however, revealed that Chondrus Crispus is a type of seaweed that can soften up rough skin while stimulating microcirculation.

Other ingredients worth a mention are aloe, mallow, adenosine and Buddleja Davidii extract. They’re all great anti-imflammatories while the latter is a powerful antioxidant. It also contain beech bud and christe marine (another type of seaweed) stem cell extracts that can help stimulate cell renewal.

I’ve been using it underneath my daily moisturiser. I like that it sinks into your skin superfast and doesn’t leave it feeling sticky or aggravate my oilies. I’m also very taken with the smell which reminds me a bit of cream soda. Yum!

If you’re looking for a super-soothing, antioxidant-rich serum that’ll help bump up your hydration levels, this is a good choice. In regards to wrinkles, it’s cell stimulating ingredients aren’t going to turn back the hands of time like retinol, but it will help temporarily plump up fine dehydration lines, mostly thanks to its hyaluronic acid content.

Love, love

P.S. Its always nice to find a good serum that won’t break the bank. I know a lot of serums contain a more concentrated amount of active ingredients and that can justify their being more expensive but there are too many companies selling very average serums and then taking the piss when it comes to the price…
