Jennifer Aniston EDP review

I don’t know about you, but I don’t get too excited about celebrity fragrances. Most are just a vile concoction of sugar and fruit… and don’t get me started on the packaging… So ja… what I have to tell you is a bit of a confession… you see… it’s just that… (oooh, just spit it out Leigh!) I’m completely taken with Jennifer Aniston eau de parfum! Like for real. I really, really like it.

Jennifer Aniston EDP
While I’m not really a big admirer of Jen herself and suspect I might be one of few women who just doesn’t ‘get’ the worlds’ obsession with her hair, I have to admit the chick’s got a seriously banging body for her age. Hell, for any age, really.

Proof that you CAN be a man eating minx after 40. (Thank God...)
But ja… getting back to the scent… To be perfectly honest, it could’ve been made by a cast member of The Jersey Shore and I’d still like it. To me, it smells like a breezy summer’s day and reminds me of some sort of sun tan lotion or after sun I used to use, but in saying that it doesn’t have a hint of tacky coconut or pineapple. In fact, it’s very similar to Bobbi Brown’s Beach, another scent I love, but with way better staying power. In fact, I suspect Jen walked into the offices of her perfumers, slammed down Bobbi’s scent and said ‘Right bitches… make it smell like this, but better…’ The dry down, however, is ever so slightly soapy, but when I say slight I mean it. It’s more ‘hey, I just got out the tub, don’t I smell fresh and clean’ as opposed to ‘so I’ve just rubbed with wrists in Lux…’

According to Jen, she created the scent to evoke childhood memories of ‘sunny days at the beach and happy summer nights’. She made a point of including jasmine as she remembers how it would float in the California air on hot summer evenings and wanted a bit o’ sea breeze in the mix too. ‘I consider the scent of the ocean to be one of life’s most uplifting sensual experiences. No aroma is quite so purifying, humbling and exhilarating’, she says. ‘The combination of the salty air and tropical oils reminds me of long sunny days on the beach… pure happines’.

As for the fragrance’s actual notes, these are ‘citrus grove accord’, rose water, jasmine, violet, Amazon lily, musk, amber and sandalwood. To me, however, it’s all tanning on a towel, living it up in summer sunshine. It’s the kind of fresh, easy to wear every day scent and something I’d spritz on even when I’m home alone as an instant little pick me up. I also like that the bottle isn’t in the least bit embarrassing (here’s looking at you Katy Perry!) and am very happy to have it hang out on my bathroom shelf.

If you like fresh, clean, easy-to-wear scents or light white florals (think anything by Bobbi Brown, J Lo Glow, Mark Jacobs Island and Estee Lauder’s Pure White Linen), go give this a sniff. You’ll find it in selected Stuttafords as well as Dis-Chem and I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Love, love

Leigh

UPDATE: I figured out what this reminds me off! Neutrogena Body Oil! About two years ago I used to put it on my legs on hot summer days when I knew I’d be running around in shorts or a dress. I don’t think it’s still available in SA which is a pity, it was a truly fabulous li’l product…
