Official opening of On a Roll in Mowbray

Everyone’s talking about On a Roll in Mowbray (just opposite the Fat Cactus) and for good reason: they’re offer a whopping 13 delish speciality hot dogs and almost always have a new limited edition ‘dog of the day’. And, like, who doesn’t like hotdogs?!

Clouds and I popped in last night and hung out with local foodie blogger, Dax. We were spoiled with a seemingly never-ending succession of different dogs and big ass bowls of fries.

Yum!

Of everything we tasted, I was most impressed with the Durban n’ All (R49 served with fries as well as chilli and garlic paste, gherkin relish and Portuguese prego sauce.)

It's topped with SERIOUSLY hot mango atchar and a cool cucumber relish.

The fries, however, were my kryptonite…

Believe me when I tell you I pretty much flattened that bowl by myself.

If you’re over Cape Town’s dime a dozen speciality burger places, pop on into On A Roll. Every Wednesday and Saturday the shooters are only R10 and their happy hour runs every day between five and six where you can get two drinks for the price of one.

Thanks Peter, we had a jol,

Poor Peter... my flash was giving me dramz so I made him smile for my cam a good four times before getting this shot. Can you tell?

Love, love

Leigh

P.S. After eating half our body weight in hot dogs, Dax and I popped round to Cavs to watch a movie. He wanted to see some Mark Wahlberg thing but I was convinced I had it on the hard drive at home so we opted for John Carter in 3D. Biiiig (very expensive) mistake. In fact, the last time I saw a movie this shit it was V for Vendetta (which my whole family still refers to as V for Very Kak…) If you’re headed anywhere near the movies this weekend, avoid this lemon like the plague…

    1. You’re joking right? Watching it made me want to stratch my eye balls out of my head with my car keys… We even used to make a joke of it, telling people we really didn’t like to go and see it while giving each other the sneaky side eye…

  2. yo Leigh you gots me puzzled dawg, your personality is awesome, know that from your blog, but you don’t like this film, what a conundrum, lol I bet the people you told to watch it were actually really happy you recommended it hah hah.

Shew I almost cried near the end when I saw it in the cinema, and have watched it at home 2 or 3 times since, and it’s always brill. to each their own 🙂

now I’m really curious what are 3 of your fave films???? I always think I can tell alot about someone from their taste in movies, music no but movies yeah, so what are your top films? Please don’t say Twilight, please don’t say Twilight 😉

    1. It’s okay to disagree 😉 I love movies so I could never pick just three. The last one I really enjoyed though was The Help. And I’m with you in regards to Twilight. Never understood the hype…
