I’ve always liked Vichy. It’s got that no-nonsense, ‘we’re here to sort out your skin, not look pretty on your bathroom shelf’ kinda vibe which I appreciate. As much as I love luxurious-looking packaging, I prefer to spend my money on beauty products that mean business. Still, the higher ups at Vichy thought their goodies had perhaps too clinical an image, if not in South Africa, definitely so in France. Thus, they decided to zexy things up a little with simple yet chic new packaging:

They’ve also got a new logo which you’ll be seeing more of when their new ads start to run and all the newly packaged products start to trickle onto the shelves.

I learned all this the other day when we I met up with Alain and Natalie from L’Oreal/Vichy SA at the Mount Nelson. They’re very excited about the new look… just as much as I was about the evil little pastries they put on the table at the meeting…

But ja… sweet treats aside, let’s get back to Vichy… They’re currently very excited about their new LiftActiv serum 10 (I don’t have a price for it at the moment, but will fill it in the mo I do):

One of the serum’s active ingredients is rhamnose which something I’d never heard of before. My initial thoughts were ‘Oh God, it’s one of those stupid “made up” ingredients again…’ You know what I’m talking about… when a company combines two random, very average ingredients together and then calls it a ‘special complex’ and gives it a ridiculously embarrassing name… like ‘Botaxia’… or ‘Collagenius’…
Merrily, it turns out that rhamnose is a plant sugar extract and a perfectly ‘legit’ ingredient. The good peeps at Vichy have discovered that, if used in a concentration of 5%, it can improve skin regeneration and plump up your skin from the inside out. In fact, you can expect to see firmer, smoother, more radiant-looking skin within just 28 days.
If any of you are currently using it or are tempted to give it a bash, please do let me know your thoughts.
Love, love
Leigh
P.S. I was lucky enough to be spoiled with a few Vichy products, one of which was their Purete Thermale waterproof eye make-up remover, R161.

I used to be obsessed with Lancome’s Bi Facil (R285) but find this baby to be pretty much the same thing, but at a total snip of the price! It’s definitely found a permanent home on my nightstand…
yupp – mommabear is a BIG fan of VICHY – particularly their *Aquatic Thermal* cream (which I manage to get at a minor reduced price in pharamacies here)
I brought the LiftActiv Serum over from Germany a few months back while I was on a visit….its really good and my skin looks visibly refreshed every time I use it and it smells devine BUT what I found was that the texture is quite sticky so my make-up looked quite blotchy after applying it so I now use it only when I know I aint going to leave the house/before bed 🙂
Ag nee! But thanks for sharing, always good to know. Perhaps you could use it under your night cream? Serious anti-agers do their best work at night anyway. 😉
