The great SkinLogic face mask review

I love a good face mask. There’s something indulgent about being able to slap one on, light a scented candle and take a few minutes to lie back and marinate in something that promises to leave you looking lovelier.

The other day I reviewed a Collagen Infusion mask from SkinLogic, a line developed by Korean dermatologists. I liked how it left my skin feeling hydrated and plump so I was thrilled to be given a few others from the line. (Thanks Tim!) Each mask is a ‘cloth-type’ that’s been steeped in a serum-type solution containing various beneficial skin ingredients. Simply place the cloth on your skin, lie back and let the hydrating gel seep into your face. After ten minutes or so you can remove it and massage any remaining product into your skin; there’s no need to wash it off!

Being a Seriously Awesome Girlfriend, I dished a few of the masks out to my bietse and asked them to share their thoughts.

First up, we’ve got Clouds donning a zexy ‘Platinum Lift’ mask:

She's the only one of us who managed to look 'not shit' while wearing it. Don't you think she's channeling a bit of a Halle Berry vibe in this shot?

Clouds loved that the mask slid down your face if you stood up ‘cos it forced her to lie down and take a bit of a breather. (Chica’s a workaholic like me…) ‘My skin didn’t feel tight or dry after I removed the fabric and I liked that you keep the product on rather than rinse it off when you’re done. It felt like an extra layer of indulgence on my skin’, she said.

Next, we’ve got Laura in the Collagen Infusion mask I used last time:

Yes, she looks kinda sad/confused in this pic, but trust me, she really liked it...

‘Taking the mask out is quite a slimy business but, once it’s on it’s nice and cooling… although I did feel like Tom Cruise in Vanilla Sky!’, she said. ‘Overall, my face felt as smooth as a baby’s bum afterwards. It’s a nice addition to any beauty regime.’

Now get a load of Ali in the Stem Cell Plant Protein mask:

My boyfriend has a raging crush on Ali so I took great pleasure in showing him this Friday the 13th-y little pic. Bwhahahah... (Sorry Ali!)

Despite also feeling a bit like an ‘extra in a bad Hollywood horror’ upon application, Ali reckoned the results were totally worth it. ‘The coolness of the masque was so refreshing and light even though there was a LOT of serum on it; I could envision it doing all sorts of wonders to my skin’, she said. ‘When I took it off, my skin actually GLOWED; like when you leave a facial that hasn’t left you all red and blotchy! The package tells you to leave on the excess serum and to pat it on your neck and hands, which I duly did (I’m a sucker for instructions!) and the next morning I was dealing with baby soft, perfect skin-looking. Even the little spot I had on my cheek was gone! My skin was also so well-moisturised that putting on my make-up was a pleasure, but I hardly had to use any as I wanted my ‘glowiness’ to show through.’

As for me, as I’d also had a whopper of a pimple that week, I thought I’d try the Tea Tree Healing mask.

SkinLogic Tea Tree Healing mask

It makes use of antibacterial Tea Tree oil and Witch Hazel extract as well as Gotu Kola and Portulaca extract. When used topically Gota Kola can help soothe, heal and hydrate while promoting collagen production. Portulaca is a natural source of vitamins A, C, E and co-enzyme Q10 and Omega-3 fatty acids. It’s a great antioxidant and does a good job of calming stressed, irritated skin.

Yesiree... this is EXACTLY the kinda shot I want my ex-boyfriends to see when they google my name...

Despite being infused with a dash of Tea Tree oil, the mask didn’t have that horrid Tea Tree smell. I liked that it felt nice and cool on my skin and when I was done I could see that it had helped zap a few fine dehydration lines around my eyes and mouth. My spot also looked much better the next morning, but, to be honest, I can’t tell whether this was due to the mask or the fact that I gave it a fat dose of hard-hitting Differen gel overnight. Either way, I loved the mask’s soothing, hydrating effects and made a point of using every drop of excess serum, rubbing it all over my face, neck and décolletage.

Love, love
