Scalini’s rooftop soiree; a merry mix of cocktails, sunset & seriously fab fashion

Yesterday evening Karisa and I popped into Scalini’s exclusive l’il roof top soiree…

Aside from a shop in the Cape Quarter, Scalini also have this three level store in Jarvis Street.

The bash was held to celebrate the arrival of their new summer stock which often comes in a bit late as the owners, Sasha Aleksic and Preeti Kapoor, get their pieces in the moment they’re available in Europe. (This way you can be assured you’re getting the freshest designer fashion around; no crappy last season stock like that of pretty much every designer shop in the Waterfront…)

Sasha and Preeti

Right now, they’re most excited about their hot new Melissa Odabash bikinis and were showing them off in their window via uber-bronzed real live models…

Ah... I remember being able to sit on my ass in a swimsuit and not have to worry about latent cellulite squishing its way up to surface. Those were the days...

They reckon bright, bold colours like turquoise and coral are still big, big news, so if you’re going to splash out on just one high fashion piece this summer, make it something colourwonderful… like this gorgeous little Pennyblack dress:

Divine, right? (For those of you who don't know, Pennyblack is created by MaxMara...)

Karisa was quite taken with this simple charcoal number:

It's a Maliparmi, darling...

The boutique’s other highlights include gorgeous shoes from designers like Sergio Rossi and Fratelli Rossetti…

Again, the shoe I liked best turned out to be a Pennyblack. Cute, hey? They’re R2 500 so I won’t be snapping them up anytime soon, but tres adorbs nonetheless…
…designer jewellery…
…and lots more gorgeous, colourful clothing…
After a quick browse and a bit of a schmingle with peeps like these guys:
Fairlady’s fashion ed Chu with the mags marketing manager Roxanne Cloete with celeb oral hygienest Emma King.

…K and I hit the road. I’d cleverly burned the shizz out of my leg with my curling iron – again – (this time because I crawled over it to answer my phone) and it had started to throb like crazy. Seriously. I could like totally feel my flippen’ heartbeat in my thigh! Chu cleverly suggested I try slathering it with Creme de la Mer when I got home… it was, after all, developed by that crazy scientist dude to treat burns, right?

K being awesome in her new Forever21 necklace and vest and moi, smiling through the pain (which is super easy to do when you're sky high on anti-inflammatories and booze...)

Thanks Marina (she’s the PR queen who put the bash together), you always throw a good one. I’m also thrilled that you introducd me to this dude:

This new isotonic sports drink tastes like Game, has 200 less kJ than a Coke and, if fresh out of the fridge, can totes help soothe a curling iron burn...

Love, love

Leigh
