The winner of the ELLE New Talent designer search has just been announced and what do you know, chica hails from Port Elizabeth. Secretly, I’m a bit surprised ‘cos PE’s never been a ‘fashion capital’, if you know what I mean. I remember going back home a few years back wearing skinny jeans and my old school friends looked at me like I was a mentalist. ‘WHAT are you wearing?’, they shrieked? ‘Those are HIDEOUS! They’ll never catch on…’

Anyhoo, this years winner is Kelly Esterhuyse. She’s won a mentorship from Mr. P as well as R25K. According to judge Dion Change, Kelly’s clever use of merino wool (another awesome Oos Kaap export) is what set her apart.
